Job Description

Treatment & Aftercare CoordinatorJob Posting – 1 Full Time contract to March 31, 2023AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:The Treatment and Aftercare Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to ensure the development, implementation and stability of the alcohol, drug and solvent abuse treatment program by assisting Indigenous people in addressing alcohol / drug issues and preventing / minimizing the negative effects of addictive substances in the individual, family and community. Confidential addictions services, education and support to individuals, families and the community, and promotion of healthy lifestyles and healthy choices are part of the service deliverables.QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred degree in Social Work or in a related human services field, with specialized training or experience in the area of alcohol and/or substance use issues.
  • Related work experience in the area of addictions and completion of assessments.
  • Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history, with particular emphasis on family violence, child welfare, the impacts of trauma, Indigenous youth engagement and community outreach; knowledge of an Indigenous language(s) will be considered an asset.
  • Experience working with high-risk clientele with substance use issues in a helping capacity.
  • Experience planning and leading educational, one-on-one and/ or support groups. Ability to plan, coordinate and deliver educational and prevention workshops.
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team-oriented setting.
  • Excellent case and file management skills, stress management and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to engage people to build trust and rapport; effective verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Group facilitation, team building and decision making skills; ability to problem solve and take initiative.
  • Effective crisis intervention skills; ability to provide individual / family counselling.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including database applications.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
  • A clear criminal reference check (CPIC) and Vulnerable Sector Clearance is a condition of employment.
  • Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
