Job Description

Little Blue House Coffee Co. is Tiverton, Ontario’s community hub. Located in the original home of the Tiverton Women’s Institute, the town library and a beloved fudge shop, our little building has always been a place to gather.We aim to support local and are proud to partner with other Ontario businesses and creators to bring you locally roasted coffee, ice cream, baked goods, art and more.As our Cafe Manager, you will bring the Little Blue House Coffee Co. experience to life by managing the cafe operations, driving financial success, building a strong team, and creating a meeting place for the Tiverton community. You will delight and uplift customers with every visit. Your work goes beyond a perfectly made latte; it’s about human connection. You think big but notice the small details. Bonus points if you also love coffee and art.Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create monthly staff schedules and approve any changes
  • Manage bakery vendors and scheduled deliveries
  • Review weekly sales reports and waste reports, make recommendations to owners and update bakery and supply orders as needed
  • Ensure proper cafe policies and procedures are followed by all staff, including attendance, health and safety policies, product standards and customer service
  • Maintain a calm demeanour during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep the store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the team
  • Follows all cash management and cash register policies and ensures proper cash management practices are followed by the team
  • Ensure the team is following proper clock-in and clock-out practices. The owners will manage payroll based on these hours.
  • Keep POS/menu systems up to date
  • Oversee recruiting, interviews and onboarding of new staff
  • Create a positive learning environment by providing clear, specific, timely and respectful coaching and feedback to staff
  • Offer strategic input or suggestions as to how to increase store profitability and efficiency
  • Assist with performance management and terminations of direct reports
  • Assist with special events catering as needed
  • Assist with operations of the art gallery as needed
  • Maintain coffee knowledge on current offerings and confidently and accurately communicate product knowledge to staff and customers
  • Being on-call to staff and supervisors for any issues that may arise
  • Recognize staff for outstanding customer service and teamwork
  • Maintain Little Blue House Coffee Cos presence in the local community by attending events and networking opportunities
  • Support marketing team in the creation of content
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Little Blue House Coffee Co.
  • Execute store operations and barista duties during scheduled shifts
  • All other reasonable duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Customer service experience in a retail, cafe or restaurant environment
  • Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience is preferred
  • Experience with POS systems, printers, and other professional cafe equipment
  • Post-secondary education - business degree, hospitality certificate, or equivalent
  • Proficient computer skills including experience with iOS and Google Suite
  • Previous experience with employee hiring, onboarding and training
  • Possession of a Food Handlers Certificate
