The opportunities for training and advancements are real.The OpportunityCurrently, Bruce Power has opportunities available for Civil Maintainer I - Scaffolder. These positions are permanent, full-time in nature, and offer a competitive benefits, compensation, and pension package. They are located on- site in Tiverton, Ontario. Various shift patterns are included (i.e., days/afternoons/nights).What will you be responsible for

  • Erect modify and remove engineered, temporary work structures (scaffold platforms)
  • Erect and remove engineered lifting beams as per approved drawings
  • Design, erects, modify and dismantle all types of scaffolding
  • Hoist materials using approved lifting techniques
  • Erect fall protection systems and approved tie of points
  • Carries out good housekeeping and fire prevention practices in the performance of the work
  • Complete hazard identification and safe job planning prior to executing work
  • May be required to work from heights, in confined spaces, in environments containing respiratory radiological, chemical, electrical, and mechanical hazards
  • This work may be performed on a twelve hour, rotating shift schedule
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge and Skills
  • Understands, operates and uses power tools, equipment and hand tools related to the building trades
  • Understands, operates and uses tools and equipment associated with scaffolding
  • Familiar with the weights of equipment and the work procedures of all other trades using the scaffolding in the performance of their work. Works from blueprints, specifications or oral instructions
  • Working knowledge of BP PROC -00675 Bruce Power Scaffold and Temporary work Structures
  • General Knowledge of station housekeeping and material storage standards
  • Working knowledge of working at heights requirements
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the strength of materials used in scaffolding and their structural stability limits
  • Familiar with rigging techniques and has an understanding of the use of various types of hoisting devices
Education and Experience
  • Candidates require an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent as recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education
  • Candidates must hold a valid Ontario or Interprovincial License as a Carpenter
  • Candidates must hold a Scaffold Certification through the Provincial Tube and Clamp and systems scaffold training course
  • Candidates must hold Working at Heights certificate and be able to wear approved fall arrest system
  • Considered an asset:
  • Holding more than one Certificate and/or experience in any of the following trades: carpentry, plastering, bricklaying, masonry, painting, plumbing, tinsmithing, insulating, roofing, concreting and all types of scaffolding
  • Work experience in a Power Generation Facility and/or previous industrial construction experience
