The opportunities for training and advancements are real.The OpportunityCurrently, Bruce Power has opportunities available for Mechanical Maintainer Apprentices. These positions are permanent, full-time in nature, and offer a competitive benefits, compensation, and pension package. They are located on- site in Tiverton, Ontario. Various shift patterns are included (i.e., days/afternoons/nights).What will you be responsible forOn a rotating shift or day basis, perform Mechanical Maintenance duties such as commissioning, troubleshooting, repair and preventive maintenance of mechanical equipment in a nuclear generating station or related facility. The equipment includes: valves, pumps, compressors, heating refrigeration and air conditioning, turbines, generators, combustion engines and piping systems.Skills and Knowledge

• Must be able to work in a radioactive environment, on rotating shifts, at heights, in confined spaces and hot/noisy areas
• Ability to successfully complete Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities - Apprenticeship Branch training programs and Bruce Power specific training in order to obtain all relevant qualifications
• Ability to perform tasks as a Millwright Apprentice

Education and Experience

• Successful completion of Grade 12 and received an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent (GED) as recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education
• Successful completion of a 2-year Diploma program from a College of Applied Arts and Technology in a mechanical discipline preferred
• Experience in a mechanical field such as commissioning, troubleshooting, repair and preventive maintenance of mechanical equipment considered an asset
• Experience with equipment such as valves, pumps, compressors, heating refrigeration and air conditioning, turbines, generators, combustion engines and piping systems considered an asset

• Education and Experience per the above qualifications and experience
• Transferable skills (for example, effective communication, drive for accountability and results, time/organizational management, collaboration and teamwork)
• Technical testing
• Competency based interview
• Past performance record and suitability for this position

Notes:

• Training associated with the apprenticeship program will be provided by a recognized delivery agent and could be offsite
• Successful candidates will be registered as apprentices with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities - Apprenticeship Branch
• Candidates that have successfully completed an Ontario or Interprovincial License in a relevant discipline meet the minimum requirements for a Mechanical Maintainer with Bruce Power and will not be considered for a Mechanical Maintainer Apprentice position
