The opportunities for training and advancements are real.The OpportunityCurrently, Bruce Power has opportunities available for Shift Control Technician Apprentices. These positions are permanent, full-time in nature, and offer a competitive benefits, compensation, and pension package. They are located on- site in Tiverton, Ontario. Various shift patterns are included (i.e., days/afternoons/nights).What will you be responsible for

  • Shift Control Technician Apprentices, having the highest regard for safety, are responsible for maintaining systems needed to fuel and control nuclear reactors plus ancillary systems
  • On a shift or day basis, they are responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, modification and repair of the instrumentation, electronic and electrical equipment used to control systems in our facilities
  • Shift Control Technician Apprentices may be required to work from scaffolding, in confined spaces, and in environments containing radiological, chemical, electrical, and mechanical hazards
  • This work may be performed on a twelve-hour, rotating shift schedule
Education and Experience
  • Successful completion of Grade 12 and an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent (GED) as recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education
  • Successful completion of a Diploma Program from a College of Applied Arts and Technology in electrical, electronics, instrumentation/control or computer technology, or the equivalent as determined by OACETT
  • Ability to successfully complete Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities - Apprenticeship Branch training program and Bruce Power specific training in order to obtain all relevant qualifications

  • Education and Experience per the above qualifications and experience
  • Transferable skills (for example, effective communication, drive for accountability and results, time/organizational management, collaboration and teamwork)
  • Technical testing
  • Competency based interview
  • Past performance record and suitability for this position
Notes:
  • Training associated with the apprenticeship program will be provided by a recognized delivery agent and could be offsite
  • Successful candidates will be registered as apprentices with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities - Apprenticeship Branch
  • Candidates that have successfully completed an Ontario or Interprovincial License in a relevant discipline meet the minimum requirements for a Shift Control Technician with Bruce Power and will not be considered for a Shift Control Technician Apprentice position
