Today, we’re focused on providing exceptional customer service and ensuring we are building safe communities where we live, work and play.It’s an exciting time to join the team at Hydro One!Job Function:As a in the Digital Center of Excellence (COE), you will lead a team of highly skilled developers, architects and analysts to deliver on various capital projects and sustainment activities as it pertains to Analytics and Robotic Process Automation (RPA).You will lead two small, yet highly effective technical teams, each respectively focused in Analytics and RPA. The teams consist of data developers, architects and IT analysts whom deliver services related to Analytics and RPA within the Hydro One. You will oversee and manage day-to-day operational activities in RPA enablement, building data pipelines for data consumption within the business and sustainment activities for RPA and Analyics.You will base your success on tangible business outcomes, work closely with line of business stakeholders, IT operations, and the PMO in an Agile environment and continuously review business needs, refine priorities, and identify opportunities to improve and innovate processes and work functions through technologies owned by the Analytics and RPA Center of Excellence (COE).Specific Accountabilities:Participate in establishing the overall Analytics and RPA COE strategy including governance and technology standards in alignment with the Architecture and Governance team’s goals, objectives, and strategies.Oversee and manage day-to-day operational and project activities for Analytics tools such as Tableau, SAP BIBW, Power BI, SAP IQ, Watson, Alteryx and more.Provide strategic direction, guidance, and/or decision support to relevant internal stakeholders including other IT teams, project teams, LoBs, and contractors in the development of data strategies, effective data models and resolution of problems within areas of expertise.Collaborate with Senior Manager of the COE and business stakeholders to prioritize LoB demands for data and analytics services; actively prioritize work for/with the team; may provide subject matter expertise in complex business engagements.Drive the identification, budgeting, and implementation of new data use cases across the business. Support internal business untis in monetizing business data where possible.Ongoing team management including planning, scheduling, assigning, and overseeing staff work; and providing the appropriate direction and guidance to ensure they can carry out their work effectively to maintain the expected quality and accuracy. Provide meaningful and timely feedback to staff.Participate in project management and governance activities to provide updates on work status, risks/issues, and mitigation/resolution plans regarding scope, budget, time, and resource availabilityProvide expertise in application development, agile delivery methodology, data architecture, RPA solutions as required. Provide the appropriate direction and guidance to direct reports and Agile POD resources to ensure the Analytics & RPA team are acting as the center for enablement for broader resources outside of the immediate team.Manage the team resources and provides guidance for onboarding System Integrators (SI) and partners. Accountable for the quality of the design and the development of COE assets.Collaborate with other ISD (Information Solution Division) stakeholders (e.g., Pods) to develop integrations in support of Business Solutions.Maintain knowledge of industry trends and best practices related to Data, Analytics and RPA..Work closely with a variety of groups within the Company on several aspects of the annual program development and delivery function, including investment plan, business plan, budget, business case approvals, planning activities focusing on the integration of system and technology plans with the goals, objectives, budgets and strategies of the various line of business organizations.Perform other duties as required.Managerial Accountabilities:Manage and motivate direct reports, solution architects, business resources, and contractors to deliver high-quality Data and RPA services.Translate and communicate the IT divisions goals, objectives, and strategies to direct reports, other staff, and contractors in the context of Modern Engineering team to ensure optimization of roadmaps and other initiatives achieve desired outcomes.Cultivate a work environment for direct reports, other staff, and contractors that enable the appropriate behaviors that achieve high productivity, engagement, and collaboration.Be accountable for the output of direct reports (e.g., set expectations, priorities, and context; ensure compliance with appropriate technical standards and governance; conduct succession planning, performance reviews and provide direction on problem areas; support career development; provide effective recommendations concerning promotions, transfers, pay, disciplinary action of staff within the department per collective agreements, etc.).Resolve technical, business and personnel issues; and escalate unresolved issues in a timely manner to Supervisor for advice, instruction, or direction.Manage staffing needs, interview/selection process, staff development and adherence to HR/Corporate policies and administer department budget.Monitor work progress and quality; conduct performance reviews and provide direction on problem areas.Provide effective recommendations to Supervisor concerning promotions, transfers, pay, disciplinary action, etc. of staff within the department per collective agreements. Develop succession plans and provide on the job staff development. Monitor and recommend changes to control and meet targetsWork closely with a variety of groups within the Company on several aspects of the annual program development and delivery function, including investment plan, business plan, budget, business case approvals, planning activities focusing on the integration of system and technology plans with the goals, objectives, budgets and strategies of the various line organizations. Be responsible of how the business will evolve through deployment of new technology.Build team alignment amongst staff, contractors and vendor personnel with diverse backgrounds many of whom will be working together for the first time, for during the duration of a project. Demonstrate business acumen by translating technical options into business objectives. Resolve technical, business and personnel issues; escalate unresolved issues in a timely manner to supervisors.Selection Criteria and Experience:Technical Knowledge:BA or BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Economics, Business Administration or other equivalent educationWorking knowledge of data mining principles including predictive analytics, mapping, clustering, collecting data from multiple data systems on premises and cloud-based data sources.Requires working knowledge of machine learning principles and techniques.Requires knowledge of data governance and data management.Certifications in big data, machine learning and artificial intelligence would be an asset, but are not requiredExperience in the IT domain in relevant areas such as technical/systems architecture, database management (such as MySQL, SQL Server, Teradata), machine learning, artificial intelligence, and cloud data platforms (such as Snowflake, GCP, SAP CDW).Requires ability to apply technical experience and knowledge to facilitate management decisions in the context of data and RPA services to support LoB’s and achieve desired outcomes.Requires demonstrated leadership and managerial competency to manage a team of professionals to deliver, operate and/or manage complex data pipeline and modelling delivery; and interpersonal skills to relate well to, influence, and/or negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.Strong IT and business acumen with broad knowledge of data services technologies, standards, and practices for use cases.Experience with IT planning and management including project management; quality management; resource management; and demand management.Requires a good knowledge of English and excellent communication skills.Deep analytical problem-solving skills with advanced proficiency in managing complex, large data sets and resolving conflicts while adapting to changing environmentsAt least 10 years of experience and with managing and delivering technology projectsStrong knowledge and experience with the unique aspects of critical real-time applicationsExperience with Electricity Transmission and Distribution Operations would be an assetDemonstrated Management Skills:Team leadership – ability to take a role as leader of a team or other groupClient–Service Orientation – desire to help others, to understand and then meet their needs.Excellent communication and facilitation skills.Initiative – takes proactive action wherever possible.Team player – able to work with others as part of a team, as opposed to working separately or competitively.Business Focus - ability to understand business objectives and translate them into technical requirements and solutions.Demonstrated leadership and managerial competency to manage a team of professionals, establish priorities and adapt to changing conditions.Ability to achieve consensus (or buy-in where consensus cannot be reached) on requirements translating into business applications.Demonstrated interpersonal skills to relate well to management, peers and frontline business.Strong IT and business acumenStrategic business thinking – Ability to use their unique skill as a business/IT translator to help executives and management make appropriate strategic decisions in their sphere of control.Internal Job Title: Data Services ManagerAt Hydro One we understand that the success and strength of our business rests with our people.
