A Better World.Don’t miss out on the opportunity to work alongside the world’s best in paediatric healthcare.Position DescriptionPosition DescriptionThe Canadian Inflammatory Bowel Disease Network (CIDsCaNN) is looking for a Clinical Research Project Coordinator, with an interest and expertise in Data Management, to work in the context of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Centre at The Hospital for Sick Children.The Canadian Children Inflammatory Bowel Disease Network (CIDsCaNN) is a national network funded by the ChILD Foundation, involving 12 academic centers across Canada, SickKids being the lead site. CIDsCaNN aims to undertake patient-based research to understand why Inflammatory Bowel Disease is increasing among children living in Canada, and to define the best therapies for subgroups of patients.The Project Coordinator will be an integral part of the CIDsCaNN Data Coordinating Centre (DCC) based out of SickKids. This position is responsible for assisting in the management of data quality and integrity, overall maintenance of sample organization and storage, and other administrative tasks. They will work closely with the Network’s 12 sites, the Data Manager, the Communications Specialist, and Biostatistician; and will be supervised by the Director of the DCC as well as the National Project Manager. The successful candidate will be creative, collaborative, adaptable, analytical, positive, hard-working and have a passion for tackling challenges head on.Heres What Youll Get to Do:You will work in a multi-disciplinary research team that serves the data-analysis and management needs of The Canadian Children Inflammatory Bowel Disease Network and many of the collaborators across Canada. Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Assist with the management and manipulation of large amounts of data using a Microsoft Access database; creating reports/presentations using this data
  • Manipulation of data using SPSS
  • Work closely with an energetic team of physicians, nurse coordinators, research coordinators and colleagues across Canada via phone and email
  • Quickly learn and understand various research projects within the Network: In order to provide guidance and respond to questions from the many centers participating in these projects
  • Be a part of a team working with other teams on designing and implementing best practices for operations and monitoring
  • Create and distribute data queries using MS Access and SPSS to participating sites in order to ensure data completeness and quality
  • Assist with the maintenance and ongoing development of the Network’s clinical data collection system (REDcap), and the online interactive management platform (Zoho)
  • Responsible for the maintenance and ongoing development of the online sample management system (CentraXX) and physical sample storage
  • Assist in the collaboration with the Network Communications Specialist on the maintenance of the Network website (GoDaddy)
  • Assist the National Project Manager with administrative tasks (e.g. shipping, supplies management, etc.)
  • Involvement in other ongoing studies as directed by the Director of the DCC
Here’s What You’ll Need:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in sciences, social sciences or a health related discipline
  • At least 1-2 years of professional experience
  • Strong knowledge of MS Access and SPSS
  • Strong knowledge of REDCap database tools, manipulation, and creation
  • Previous experience in research
  • Desirable: Experience with database creation, manipulation, and online data presentation
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a large team
