Visit www.jvstoronto.org.Program OverviewThe Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) is a community-based partnership that involves a range of stakeholders in the planning and development of collaborative and innovative solutions to enhance newcomer settlement. Partners include service provider organizations, levels of government, school boards, professional associations, ethno-cultural organizations, faith-based organizations, and the community. JVS is the lead agency for the Toronto North LIP (TNLIP), one of four quadrant LIPs in Toronto.We’re looking for someone who will:

  • Coordinate Employment and Labour Market Integration Work Group, including creation and implementation of annual Action Planning, logistics of meetings and activities, communication with members, outreach, facilitation, and support in accordance with Strategic & Action Plans
  • Identify trends and find creative ways to collaboratively address barriers of employment, access to sector services, or integration of newcomers (examples are
  • Ensure member participation in all Council meetings and relevant events; engage with new members
  • Maintain and administer member database
  • Create and compile relevant employment-based content for external communication, including newsletters, newsflashes, social media, and other channels; distribute regularly
  • Conduct, coordinate and analyze extensive primary or secondary research, such as needs assessments, environmental/quantitative data scans, jurisdictional scans, asset mapping, literature reviews, and qualitative phenomenological research as needed
  • Participate in network and community agency tables that coordinate and plan for system change in the community and sector: effectively communicate TNLIP information and integrate newcomer employment perspective; advise on policy revisions and systemic change in the sector based on research, analysis, and community coordination
  • Provide evidence and research-based information on emerging needs for newcomers to participate in regular Action Planning for TNLIP
  • Provide support for TNLIP Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives
  • Generate, organize and communicate information on opportunities for TNLIP and Work Group member collaboration in planning tables, boards and committees, professional associations and networks, entrepreneurship hubs, Bridging programs, and other networks as relevant
  • Work collaboratively with other Work Groups and LIPs; provide support within TNLIP to ensure overall project results are achieved
Flexible hours / evenings / weekends will be required for this position.Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Political Science, Community Planning, International Development, Media and Culture, Communications, or a related field. International degrees must be evaluated for Canadian equivalency.
  • 2 years of related experience
  • Ability to conduct research and analysis
  • Strong interpersonal skills; comfortable regularly networking and making connections
  • Sensitivity to diversity and ability to work with vulnerable populations and professionals
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; comfortable with public speaking
  • Ability to write reports quickly and cohesively
  • Effective time management and organization skills; ability to strategically plan ahead and manage more than one project at once
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player
  • Computer literate; the ability to learn systems used by the agency (ie. SalesForce)
  • A clear Police Vulnerable Sector check is required for this position

  • Proven ties and strong familiarity with the LIP communities
  • Strong knowledge-base of immigration, settlement and employment programs
  • Experience in community development
