Job Description

Development Communications Assistant InternshipThank you for your interest in joining our team! Venture for Canada is a catalyst of systemic social change by equipping young Canadians to build a more prosperous and inclusive society.Reporting to the Strategic Projects Manager, the Development Communications Assistant will support the development and maintenance of stewardship relations. You’ll have a direct impact on Venture for Canada’s donor relations and fundraising efforts. You’ll do this by embracing our learning and development offerings through researching, analyzing, copywriting, and supporting donor events while working closely with a range of cross-functional teams.This is role is part of VFCs commitment to fostering work-integrated learning for Canadian students, in addition to gaining valuable hands-on experience, interns will also receive 1x1 mentoring from our Director of People Operations and Finance, receive a curated set of learning materials, and participate in professional development groups to further advance skill development. These skill development sessions will focus on relationship building, time management, objective based working styles, delegation, project planning and execution, working in small teams, and more!This is a contract position and employment is contingent on funding approval.Please note, to be eligible for this position, you must:

  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations; and,
  • be 30 years of age or younger at the time of the internship.
Skills:
  • Strategic communication, both written and verbal;
  • Research, predominantly focused on stewardship relations;
  • Fundraising analysis;
  • Comfortable working with key internal stakeholders;
  • Motivated to ask questions to seek greater understanding and identify opportunities to support with the best resources;
  • Project/event coordination an asset;
  • Fundraising asset creation, including the use of Adobe and Canva an asset.
Role Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with VFCs Development Team to support cultivation, fundraising, and stewardship efforts with donors;
  • Support the logistics of an in-person donor event;
  • Responsibilities include brainstorming and event design; stewardship data summarization and analysis; and donor community activation;
  • Planning regular meetings and coordinating communications between VFC and key VFC stakeholders;
  • Lead the organization of donor materials, including planning for Holiday and thank you assets;
  • Any other reasonable duties requested by VFC.

Our weekly salary pay for this position is $665. Other benefits include but are not limited to:
  • Office closure to extend the long weekend in August.
  • Flexible work hours.
  • From May long weekend to Labour Day weekend we offer Summer Hours.
