Join the City of Toronto as an Enterprise Technical Support Specialist (Database Administrator) and maximize your technical expertise in PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, and Oracle database products, administrative tools, and utilities, including installation & configuration, backup & recovery, integration & analysis, will drive your success as an Enterprise Technical Support Specialist with the City of Toronto.With your considerable enterprise system products experience, including a strong commitment to quality customer service, you will help administer enterprise system solutions to optimize the Citys RDBMS database environment and provide ongoing IT support. As an Enterprise Technical Support Specialist (Database Administrator) and an integral member of our Technology Infrastructure Services team, you will be at the ready whenever the need for troubleshooting arises, providing clear, effective technical information and instructions to a wide range of users.Responsibilities:Your primary responsibilities as an Enterprise Technical Support Analyst will be varied. Working as part of a team, you will:
  • Performs analysis of enterprise software, hardware and transmission facility using diagnostic tools to ensure the optimum operation and maintenance of technology solutions.
  • Ensures pro-active action is taken for the operation, installation and support of the enterprise systems and solutions.
  • Provides assistance and technical support in the planning, assessment, design, construction and implementation of upgrades to the existing systems and enhancements/additions of future enterprise technologies.
  • Conducts research and evaluations of enterprise hardware/software solutions and makes recommendations.
  • Maintains security on all enterprise server hardware, software and network, including set up, revision and cancellation of securities.
  • Monitors enterprise systems, products and network usage, performance and capacity. Performs trend analysis for system improvements.
  • Performs enterprise-wide user accounts administration including addition, deletion and change of user accounts according to approved policy, standards and procedures.
  • Responds to user inquiries, investigates and analyzes problems and develops solutions and/or action plans.
  • Conducts, updates and improves reviews of documentation, manuals, standards and procedures.
Key Qualifications:Your application for the role of Enterprise Technical Support Specialist (Database Administrator) should describe your qualifications as they relate to:
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive experience working with PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, and Oracle Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) products & tools, including Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle RMAN, RAC, OID, Oracle APEX.
  • Considerable experience with database high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including Oracle Real Application Cluster, Data Guard, SQL clustering, replication, and always-on availability groups.
  • Experience in installing, configuring, and supporting Oracle and MS SQL Server products in Windows, Linux, and IBM-AIX environments.
  • Experience with Oracle & MS SQL RDBMS software licensing
