Job Description

Ambulatory Services, Digital Health has an opportunity for aHELP DESK TECHNICIAN – PERMANENT PART TIME42 Bi-Weekly Hours| Non-Union |Day ShiftsWorking within the Ambulatory Services and Digital Health team, the Help Desk Technician will support programs including Connected Seniors, Tech Enablement for Older Adults and North York e-Connects, etc., which aim to lessen the effects of social isolation through increased digital access and enhanced technical literacy for seniors. Reporting to the Program Director, Technical Services and assigned the Manager, Clinical Digital Health, the Help Desk Technician will provide over-the-phone, email and in-person digital literacy education, trouble-shooting and tech assistance to community-based seniors.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provides technical and audio-visual support as well IoT device setup and troubleshooting support, customer support and service to community-based clients of Ambulatory Services
  • Provides direct customer service and support in the identifying and procurement of tech devices, installation (in-home), and ongoing remote or in-person digital literacy/troubleshooting
  • Liaises with other community partners who provide digital literacy coaching and/or contribute to the development of digital content
  • Answers Tech Support calls and e-mails from clients requesting general technical assistance, including providing one-to-one problem solving over the phone, email and in person
Qualifications include but are not limited to:
  • Completion of a college or other program in computer science or a related field of study
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related customer service experience
  • Ability to participle in an after-hours/weekend rotation as required
  • G Class License is required
  • Technical experience with the following: MS Office, applications, e-mail, Windows, WiFi technology, Video conferencing, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate with tact, patience and sensitivity to various levels of user sophistication
  • Previous work with seniors or older adults with limited technical literacy and/or cognitive decline (poor memory or retention)
  • In-depth knowledge of configuration, deployment and connectivity of IoT devices
  • Knowledge of wireless and mobile technologies and configuring device security
  • Conversant in Bluetooth Low Energy and other wireless technologies
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset (Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, Hebrew, Yiddish, Korean, Farsi)
