Grow with us.Department OverviewTDs Corporate and Public Affairs (CAPA) team is a global organization with professionals in over a dozen cities across our footprint. Its primary role is to inspire and connect our customers, communities and colleagues through communications, conversations and advocacy that enrich lives, deliver business outcomes and enhance our brand. The team includes experts in media and public relations, internal engagement, executive communications and support, digital communications and social media, and the best writers and content developers in the industry. CAPA supports every line of business and function in the Bank. CAPA is also responsible for Canadian Government Relations and global public affairs engagement and thought leadership. A team of over 30 professional translators also reports into the CAPA organization.Job DescriptionThe Manager, Communications Strategy and Planning, Global Corporate and Public Affairs will support the Global CAPA function and work closely with the Leadership Team (CAPA LT). The role includes a blend of tactical and strategic activities and is critical to ensure the smooth operations of the organization and the growth of its contribution to the Banks success. Individuals who will succeed in the role are self-starters who can operate, and problem solve independently, anticipate business needs, have a good executive interface and exceptional communication skills. This individual can deliver both strategic and execution- oriented thinking, can quickly and effectively translate directions into visual and verbal messaging through tools like PowerPoint, video and other multimedia channels, know how to connect dots and navigate the organization, and have exceptional communications and executive packaging/preparation skills.Responsibilities:Strategy

  • Provide project management around key strategic priorities for CAPA globally.
  • Help drive excellence and performance management efforts
  • Drive actions and accountability for projects initiated by the Chief Communications Officer and the CAPA LT
  • Lead design of dashboards, KPIs, MBOs, and metrics for CAPA organization
  • Support CAPA strategic planning process
  • Influence virtual and geographically dispersed teams to solve execution problems, build collaboration across the lines
  • Collaborate with the CAPA LT for CEO/executive, Board of Directors, and business leadership meetings
Operations
  • Identify opportunities for process and business improvement, including real estate and technology.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal business continuity, risk, audit and operational requirements, working closely with business partners across the Bank.
  • Lead preparation of monthly and quarterly reputational risk assessments for the Banks Senior Leadership Team and Board.
  • Capture and follow-up on action items generated in staff calls, and help manage overall operations for CAPA LT, including managing our collaboration site, records management, business continuity, consultant due diligence, etc.
  • Work closely with the CAPA LT and our Finance and HR partners to support operational and financial planning for CAPA including people and program budgets, and provide recommendations
  • Develop and maintain the Calendar for the fiscal year, including periodic business reviews, F2F meetings, CAPA internal communications, CAPA all-hands or regional town halls, and outreach.
Communications
  • Support efforts to elevate CAPA colleague experience, including through problem solving, management of work sites, CAPA community impact, etc.
  • Help to establish and guide the CAPA Global Diversity and Inclusion Committee
  • Support Global Chief Communications Officer and CAPA LT on external Board assignments, committees and other professional activities that extend the TD brand.
  • Oversee external awards and recognition programs related to TDs corporate communications, media relations and digital content
  • Help position TD as employer of choice in the communications, digital content and government relations professions.

  • Education and Experience Required:
  • 7+ years in a role requiring integrated program and process management or managing large, complex organizations and multiple stakeholder inputs.
  • Proven communications skills and experience
