In addition, students engage in experiential education opportunities to build their learning in a range of settings beyond the classroom.The Student Success Coordinator reports to and take direction from the Director, Student and Academic Services and Strategic Initiative and the Head(s) Calumet-Stong Colleges. The Student Success Coordinator participates in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of student success programs and coordinates the effective integration of programs across the student life-cycle from prospective student to beginning alumni engagement. This includes new student transition programs, peer-assisted learning programs, peer mentorship and programs focusing on student leadership and development. The incumbent closely collaborates with colleagues in the Office of Student and Academic Services (OSAS) and other units in the Faculty such as Communications and Planning, Experiential Education, and Academic Resource Management to ensure a comprehensive and integrated approach to student engagement and success during the phases of. Recruitment and Conversion, Transition, Academic Orientation, First Year, the Middle Years and Upper Year. The Student Success Coordinator also collaborates with York University units such as Student Community & Leadership Development (SCLD), Counseling and Disability Services (CDS), Learning Commons, the Career Centre and Sport and Recreation as partners in student success. The incumbent coordinates the recruitment, selection, training, and oversight of all working and volunteering students who are assigned to the high priority student success programs. The Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of the operational elements of program planning including but not limited to the detailed annual development of operational plans, the analysis and reporting of evaluation data. The Coordinator ensures that the programming related to student success and engagement is evidence based, theoretically informed and measurable. The Student Success Coordinator is a member of the Student Success Council.Education:University degree inclusive of courses in a field related to student development theories, student engagement, leadership studies, adult learning and/or training. Advanced education at the graduate level or Certification such as Supplemental Instruction (Peer Facilitated Learning) would be an asset.Experience:2 years related work experience planning, organizing, and leading programs designed to support student engagement, student leadership and student success in higher education. Advanced knowledge of student development theories specializing in student leadership, engagement and success in higher education. Experience in evaluating student success programs. Proven experience drafting complex documents, reports and communications for a variety of audiences. Familiarity with National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) and Beginning College (University) Survey of Student Experience (BSSE).
