Requisition ID: 123532Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.The teamScotiabank’s GTS- Global Systems Operations Support (GSOC) team is responsible for the support of cost effective and mission critical systems withing the 24x7 GSOC Centre. We are responsible for the most complex projects within the team, introducing and supporting new technology, process and procedure to meet the business objectives and to provide technical support, consultation and guidance in specialized areas. We also ensure that all activities conducted are following governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.The roleReporting to a Senior Manager, GSOC Support, you will play a critical part in helping the team support the various technologies within the Bank. You will work in a standard Monday to Friday business hours and expected to be available after-hours for support in the evenings or weekends.Is this role right for you

  • You are eager to work with leading edge technologies to incorporate complex network solutions, as well as work with other technology teams to contribute to an overall solution.
  • You thrive on being hands-on during mid to complex project deployments into production. This will include the support of assigned systems by acting as an internal consultant on assigned infrastructure and providing suggestions for viable solutions to systems problems of high complexity.
  • You want to be challenged with complex problem solving in time sensitive situations to reduce system downtime and customer impact.
  • You understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • You have extensive knowledge of problem and change management platforms such as ServiceNow.
  • You have in-depth understanding of workload automation tools i.e.: CA7 Scheduler, Autosys, Sysadmiral (Tidal), Control M, TSO/ISPF, JCL, iFast, AS400/iRobot etc.
  • You posses advanced knowledge of monitoring tools that feed into the Global Systems Operations Centre i.e.: SMURF, Dynatrace, Splunk, Aternity, Foglight, AQA-STM etc.
  • You have demonstrated working experience with the most relevant programming languages, mainly, those aimed a Web based application: C++, Python, PHP, Java, JavaScript, etc.
  • You are interested in getting in on the Cloud as the team gets more hands on with the network in the Public Cloud, including environments like Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure and IBM SoftLayer.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role
  • You have strong communication (verbal/written) and good interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external business partners and vendors.
  • You have an Associates or bachelor’s degree or technical institute degree/certificate in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or equivalent work experience.
  • You have 8-10+ years technical or operations-based work experience with a focus on automation, process improvement, project management.
  • You are able to train staff in sessions 60-100 users.
  • You can supervise and lead staff assigned to day support initiatives.
  • You possess superior problem solving and decision-making skills to resolve work issues with the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
  • Spanish as a second language is an asset for communicating with our international partners.
