HeaderTrail, British Columbia, CAClosing Date: December 27, 2023General AccountabilityThis position is a 24-month opportunity for a Lead Project Geoscientist with the Applied Mineralogy and Geoscience (AMG) group at Technical Services Trail. Reporting to the Section Leader, the Lead Project Geoscientist will be involved planning and carrying out characterization and geometallurgical studies and requires collaborating with multiple project teams. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in integrating geological, geochemical, mineralogical, and metallurgical data, catering the work for each project’s needs, and driving collaboration. This position offers extensive opportunities for professional development within Teck and exposure to base metal geometallurgical projects and strategic projects (i.e. decarbonizationamp; tailings characterization and reprocessing).The position will be based at Technical Services in Trail, BC (TST), which is in the heart of the West Kootenays with access to ample backdoor outdoor adventures (i.e. Red Mountain Ski Resort and extensive hiking and mountain biking trail networks). TST is part of Teck’s Technical Services Group, with facilities in Richmond, Trail and at the Head Office in Vancouver. Personal development and career growth will be key aspects of this temporary position. Key Responsibilities Establish and promote the maintenance and continual improvement of a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible working environment through a courageous personal commitment to TST #39;s over-arching policies and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Management System as well as EHS policies and management systems at off-site locations. Balance multiple projects at different development stages (exploration, advanced projects, active mines and legacy sites) within Teck’s base metals, Decarbonization and Legacy portfolios. Understand the various project drivers and integrate these into the project planning, design, and execution. Collaborate with multiple, cross-disciplinary teams fostering teamwork and effective communication. Drive and orchestrate the integration, interpretation, and utilization of geological, geochemical mineralogical, and metallurgical data. Lead and conduct geometallurgical assessments to provide in-depth insights into the variability and distribution of mineralogical and metallurgical features within ore bodies. Learn and apply automated mineralogical techniques to understand the identification and quantification of mineral phases and textural associations related to ore characteristics, processing behavior and environmental considerations. Oversee the organization, and analysis of geological, mineralogical, and metallurgical data, ensuring accuracy and relevance for the project teams. Collaborate closely with laboratory personnel to establish and maintain high-quality data acquisition and interpretation standards. Effectively summarize and communicate findings in presentations and reports and needed by the project teams.
