Job Description

SummaryJob Title: Quality Control SamplerLocation: Wolverine Mine, Tumbler Ridge, BCLanguage of Work: EnglishStart Date: When filledSchedule/ Terms of Employment: This is a full time (40 hours/week) 4x4 Shift, 12 hour daysPrimary PurposeThe QC Sampler is responsible for the collection, processing, and assaying of process plant, environmental, geology-pit, and investigative samples.Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collecting, drying, and processing of plant product and circuit samples on a routine basis and additionally as required. Moderate lifting of samples between ~5-30 lbs required.
  • Assisting QC technicians with collecting, drying, and processing of various geology-pit, environmental, and investigative samples as required.
  • Performing dry and wet size analysis of various samples on a routine and as required basis.
  • Assaying multiple types of samples using various methods and instrumentation on an as needed and routine basis following ASTM standards.
  • Ensuring accuracy of data and re-analyzing results not falling within respective repeatability / reproducibility limits.
  • Reporting analytical data to QC Supervisor and respective parties.
  • Maintaining and updating QC analysis data and reports.
  • Maintaining general housekeeping standards in all work areas.
  • Inspecting, calibrating, and maintaining QC instrumentation.
  • Adhering to Total Quality Management procedures and practices.
  • Periodically monitoring and inspecting stockpiles.
  • Additional duties as required.
Technical Skills and Relevant Experience
  • College Diploma/Certificate or University Degree in Chemistry, Geochemistry, Science, or a related discipline is helpful, but not required.
  • 1 - 3 years’ experience.
  • Good hand/eye coordination when handling samples & lab equipment.
  • Ability to show self-initiative, but also work in a team.
  • Ability to maintain an attitude of respect towards co-workers and superiors.
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Possess strong problem-solving ability, with particular attention to the details.
  • Literacy skills including the ability to read manuals and regulatory requirements.
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Computer skills include use of Microsoft Software packages.
  • Valid Driver’s license and driving experience.

  • Employee bus transport is available from Tumbler Ridge, BC
