Job Description

You belong at Dayamp; Ross.Equipment ManagerFull-timeHartland, NBThe Equipment Manager plays a key role within Linehaul Operations my implementing and tracking the linehaul trailer fleet, including their utilization.How You #39;ll Help

  • Forecast number of trailers required to service customers by terminal and seasonality.
  • Determine trailer type requirements based on customer freight/location profiles. This includes number of dry vans, pups, reefers, heaters, tailgates, rollup/barn doors required by terminal throughout the national network.
  • Assess equipment mix (owned/leased/short and mid-term rentals) to maintain servicing capacity during peak periods while minimizing inactive trailers/low utilization during non-peak periods
  • Work with terminal operations to make improvements on associated metrics
  • Miles per trailer (dry vanamp; reefer)
  • Inactive trailers by terminal
  • Reefers loaded in proper direction
  • Trailers with no movement
  • LCV lead report
  • Coordinate with trailer rental companies to rent trailers, short term to meet business requirements.
  • Maintain trailer master files by setting up rental trailers and removing from system, once returned
  • Coordinate rental trailer returns by terminal if business requirement decreases due to new trailers being purchased.
  • Liasoning with McCain to ensure the necessary shunting need for trailer are aligned with their production needs at each local plant, Grand Falls, NB and Florenceville, NB
  • Managing the shunt driver employees performing all shunting tasks for local McCain manufacturing plants.
Your Skillsamp; Experience:
  • Preferably a high school education with post secondary training in business.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Previous experience in transportation required, preferably a dispatch environment
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good computer skills including MS Excel, Word, and Outlook. Previous experience with Truck Mate an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to collect and examine data and make recommendations for improvement based on information gathered and analyzed.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to work with others to resolve conflict productively and respectfully.
  • Results focused
  • Knowledge and understanding the transportation industry and trucking as a business.
  • English required, other languages an asset.
  • Responsible for a team of 6-8 shunt drivers
