Job Description

Robson Valley Cannabis Co. is looking for a new Store Manager at our retail cannabis store in Valemount, BC! This is a unique opportunity to develop a career on the frontlines of the cannabis industry. We are searching for enthusiastic candidates who are passionate about cannabis, exemplify leadership, natural mentors and interested in growing with us in this, still, very new industry.Robson Valley Cannabis Co is a partner location of the Rural Leaf network of cannabis retail Stores.Reporting to and working in collaboration with the GM, as Store Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the retail experience at your store. This includes the hiring, coaching and mentoring of the staff team, inventory management, customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, merchandising and sales strategies.Computers & Technology:

  • Several aspects of the position require an intermediate understanding of computers, smartphones and other technology.
  • You will make daily use of digital file storage and synchronization services (Google Drive).
  • You will make daily use of Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Presentation software.
  • You will make daily use of Inventory Control and Point of Sale (POS) software.
  • You will make daily use of Email, Chat Groups, Text Messages and other forms of communication.
Supervision and Development of Staff Team:
  • As the informed captain of all things at your store, it is expected for you to manage, supervise and direct all activities.
  • It is expected for you to know the roles and responsibilities for all staff reporting to you and inspire your team to deliver on their job description.
  • You will provide regular coaching and feedback, including standardized performance reviews cycles.
  • You will take a lead role ensuring your team has the training, knowledge and skills to support customers and perform other functions of the role.
  • In collaboration with GM, when needed, it is expected for you to create store-specific employee development plans to support the overall team and individual growth.
  • You will provide employee schedules in advance and be flexible with employees’ work-life balance.
  • You will be expected to celebrate professional and personal successes.
  • You will be expected to have tough conversations and hold people accountable in a caring and results-oriented manner while fostering an environment of open and honest communication. We call this radical candor. We want our staff to always say what they really think, with positive intent.
Cash Management:
  • As the informed captain of all things at your store, it is expected for you to have a good understanding of all cash movements at your store.
  • You will take a lead role ensuring all cash management policies and procedures are understood and being followed by your staff team.
  • You will take a lead role ensuring all cash onsite is documented, accounted for, locked and in view of cameras.
  • You will take a lead role ensuring bank deposits occur regularly.
  • You will take a lead role ensuring all cash movement is being recorded and reported in a timely manner to the GM and Head Office.
Additional responsibilities include:
  • Lead the store environment using Rural Leaf’s core values and guiding principles.
  • Support GM and Head office with the development and execution of corporate vision and various initiatives.
  • Acting in Rural Leaf’s best interest, oversee discretionary spending, staffing needs, maintenance needs, supplies and other operational costs/budgets.
  • Collaborate, communicate and report information within a network of geographically dispersed teams and Head Office.
  • Identify operational efficiencies, address HR and other issues and resolve problems as they arise.
  • Maintain knowledge of all strains and products in store inventory as well as industry-wide product and trend knowledge.
  • Prepare reports and maintain accurate records of all store activities including daily cash movement, incident reports, sales and other administration.
  • Make sure all customer complaints are addressed and handled professionally, leaving the customer with a positive experience.

As Directed
  • Product Manager, GM and/or Executive will periodically give special assignments, adjust responsibilities and tasks to meet the needs of Rural Leaf.
  • Regularly collaborate with employees from Head Office or other Retail Stores regarding promotional, sales or other initiatives set by Rural Leaf.
Applicants must:
  • Be 19 years of age or older
  • Have a valid BC Cannabis “Selling it Right” Certificate. Or willingness to complete.
  • Reliable transportation.
Preference will be given to individuals with experience in:
  • Business Administration
  • Leadership, Coaching, Mentorship and decision making

  • Budgets and discretionary spending
  • POS systems, software, applications, computers and technology
  • Inventory audits and management
  • Cannabis history and licenced cannabis products
