Job Description

PD Data Sciences Product Leader (DSPL)The Digital Transformation Office (DTO), part of PD Data Sciences (PDD), works cross-functionally across Pharma Development, early phase development, Pharma Technology and Diagnostics to solve business problems. We bring a diverse and rich set of skills and experience in the areas of digital strategy, operational data management, digital skills (including Agile) and product management. These services and outputs provide the fundamentals for digital ways of working - at scale and across Roche.We are seeking to recruit a Data Sciences Product Leader to join the DTO’s Data Management Community and Operational and Master Data Ecosystem Enabling Platform. As a Data Sciences Product Leader you will lead and facilitate the design and implementation of complex data centric solutions PD. Drawing on your broader data insights and thought leadership you will lead discussions with business stakeholders on the optimum use of data analytics and business intelligence, enabling functions and teams to draw out business insights and value from current operational data. In addition, you will:

  • Bring expertise in the management and governance of complex data, encouraging others to adopt and use best practice for managing our operational and study master data.
  • Work in partnership with other Roche data management colleagues and informatics partners, helping business functions maximise the value they extract from operational and study master data.
  • Actively engage with stakeholders across Pharma Development, including senior leaders and subject matter experts, to monitor operational data, highlighting issues and leading teams to formulate appropriate solutions.
As a DSPL, you model and drive the Pharma Operating Principles and the Leadership Framework for maximum impact enabling successful patient outcomes.Responsibilities include:
  • Develop a broader view of operational data architecture and associated strategies aligned with PD Business Capabilities.
  • Undertake data and information modelling to ensure clear understanding of the business usage and accountabilities for Roche data.
  • Lead the development of sustainable and pragmatic data centric solutions to help business and informatics colleagues create, manage and consume data more effectively.
  • Leverage the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) to guide the development of our operational data, helping to maximise the value that can be gained by the business.
  • Identify and share opportunities to re-use existing operational data between teams across pharma development and potentially beyond.
  • Support the Community and Enabling Platform Leads maintain the Operational Data Strategy, ensuring that the overall strategic direction remains consistent with the needs of the business and reflects best practice.
  • Grow and nurture a strong stakeholder network across PD and wider, ensuring stakeholders understand the services offered through the OTI and act as a thought partner to ensure the value of operational data is recognised.
  • Lead Voice of Customer and data quality audits and benchmarking, reporting results to support target setting and ultimately improve data quality.
  • Perform root cause analyses of high priority problems either identified through audits or raised by business partners, identify causes, and initiate actions to remediate
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise to the DTO Data Management Community and Operational Master Data Ecosystem Enabling Platform, guiding the development of appropriate actions to improve data quality and assure the embedding of agreed standards. Provide guidance on relevant tools and technologies to improve adoption and usage of data standards.
  • Lead assessments of appropriate industry leading tools and provide guidance / advisory support to the business to gain insights and better value from existing data.
Qualifications / Experience:
  • College/University degree – bachelor degree or higher or equivalent education in scientific, medical or relevant technical discipline
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry
  • Understanding of the end-to-end drug development lifecycle, particularly as relevant to the pod/enabling platform of interest
  • Track record of establishing successful internal partnerships with relevant partner organisations
  • Influential and confident communicator
  • Demonstrates experience or is adaptable to utilizing and/or models modern ways of working consistent with an agile mindset, behaviors, and methodologies (e.g. see: McKinsey - Agile Organizations)
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Ability to work across multiple cultures and countries
  • Knowledge of GCP, international regulations, guidelines and their application, and all other applicable compliance standards is a plus
