Our outstanding commitment to workplace engagement has recently been recognised by our inclusion at number one on the Top 25 Best Big Companies to WorkAbout the roleWe are seeking a highly motivated, experienced and exceptional Public Affairs professional to join Roche UK Pricing, Reimbursement, Policy and Communications (PRPC) group on a fixed-term, part-time basis for 12 months.For the right candidate, the role could be offered on a rotation basis.The PRPC group works together with the affiliate and the NHS to deliver transformative access for innovative solutions and to support creation of a sustainable healthcare system.You will be joining a dynamic team at an exciting time for the business and you will have the chance to work across diverse areas in Roche’s portfolio.Main responsibilities will include :

  • Leading our interactions with patient groups and policy makers, devising and delivering integrated communications and public policy campaigns to remove barriers to the best care and treatment for every eligible patient
  • Working cross-functionally across both the UK and global structures to create and deliver strategies that support and drive not only UK brand and above brand priorities, but also those of the wider Roche organisation
  • Building strong relationships and stakeholder support
  • Be the voice of the stakeholder into the broader organisation to ensure we meet and exceed stakeholder expectations
  • Provide subject matter expertise and strategic input into Government and PAG projects and other cross-functional initiatives, with a balance between solutions, constructive challenge & coaching delivery of agreed objectives
  • Providing quality-control, assurance and governance in the development and execution of public affairs strategies in delivery against the priorities of the squads and corporate goals
  • Utilise their skills and capabilities, and working flexibly as part of empowered, self-managed, multi-skilled teams
  • Work collaboratively and sharing expertise across the organisation to remove silos and duplication, ensure efficient use of similar skill-sets, and to ultimately support common pursuit of the organisational North Star
  • Act as a guardian for high standards of compliance, ethics and safety; putting patients at the centre of all actions by consistent business behaviour that complies with applicable laws, industry codes and Roche’s Code of Conduct.
  • Own their development to ensure they are continually growing skills and capabilities
Who you are :
  • Excellent knowledge of current affairs and the UK political system
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, highly analytical and capable of communicating complex information clearly both inside and outside of our organisation
  • Exceptional networking and influencing skills to ensure the successful implementation of public affairs plans
  • Strong project management skills, ability to work effectively with agency partners and successfully track and manage associated spend.
  • Ability to operate within a compliance-led regulatory environment.
  • Adept at operating in highly autonomous working environment where individuals see projects through from conception to completion.
  • Ability to prioritise workload, analyse key problems, devise appropriate tactics, gain support and consensus and consequently drive change.
  • Competent to work in a matrix organisation, ability to deliver high quality public affairs projects in line with organisational needs and priorities, working in conjunction with other members of the team.
  • Strong experience of policy work, creating first in class public affairs campaigns aligned with our brand and above brand strategies.
  • Strong team player with the ability to autonomously prioritise and advise the business on the sensitivity of their specific issue to public affairs activity.
  • An experienced coach and mentor, who is able to support all members of the chapter.
  • Ability to identify and create short, medium and long term strategies that add value to the organisation.
  • Preferably highly experienced in policy work and well networked within the sector/with key stakeholders in Westminster/Whitehall.
  • Preferably experienced in public and patient engagement in shaping policy work.
