Job Description

Position: Apprentice TechnicianFLSA Exemption: Non-ExemptLocation: Windsor, ONStatus: Full-timeReports To: Production LeadershipSummary of Position: The Apprentice Technician is a trainee role beginning in the foundational areas of shipping/receiving, preparing, cleaning, and masking tools/molds, and pattern development. Successful entry level Apprentices may expand their skillsets over time to grow further into texturing department in areas that may include printing, etching, and/or tool repair and tool finishing.Essential Duties:

  • Shipping and receiving; check in tools properly and swiftly, as well as the ability to properly prep the job once completed to be shipped back to the customer/tool shop
  • Shipping and receiving; assist in areas of package and prep, load, and unload trucks as needed
  • Complete customers paperwork, shipping and receiving paperwork - FedEx, UPS, shippers etc.
  • Masking/blasting jobs properly and efficiently per the Production Managers instructions
  • Discernment of jobs on the floor that need to be sandblasted based on job requirements and status, glass bead and oxide blasting
  • Tool inspection, scribes, handwork, missing components etc.
  • Determines proper working order (Line up) and cleanliness of tools.
  • SAP data entry and documentation
  • Open order and complete QC documentation
  • Learning and applying the proper gloss level application and being able to read the gloss meters; must be proficient in all gloss codes
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Must be able to work a standard 40-hour work week with occasional-moderate overtime including weekends as a possibility, especially when busy.
  • Must be proactive and show initiative in taking on and completing projects with a deadline
  • Strong interpersonal and motivational skills
  • Regular attendance and schedule conformance
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality at all times
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Being able to work in a fast-paced environment and work in a team environment
  • Ability to use tool room equipment such as cranes and hi-lows, safely
  • Be able to work independently from verbal and/or written instructions from the Production Manager
  • Responsible to follow all OSHA and safety rules and regulations.
  • Be able to keep a clean and organized work environment while working on tools.
  • Communicate in an effective and timely manner with any tooling issues to the Production Management
Educational Requirements/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 1-2 years in a role with similar skill requirements
Physical Requirements
  • Sitting and/or standing for an extended period of time as well as some walking within the facility. Reaching, stooping, bending, dexterity and gripping of equipment/tools.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
