Overview:Your opportunityAre you an experienced construction inspector who is looking to work on new and important infrastructure projects Or someone with experience in the construction industry and is looking for a career changeDillon’s Windsor office is looking for a Field Inspector to join our Community Infrastructure group. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of land development and street re-construction projects in Windsor and the surrounding area.Responsibilities:What your day will look likeConstruction Inspection and Coordination (94%)

• Full time on-site field inspections of infrastructure projects, ensuring that projects meet the requirements of contract drawings and specifications
• Coordinate, monitor and witness required testing activities
• Complete daily records of conditions, site activities, and work progress
• Support contract administration as required

Learning & Development (6%)

• Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
• Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees

Qualifications:What you will need to succeed

• A minimum 2 years work experience as a construction inspector or similar experience working in the construction industry.
• Competence using surveying equipment, including laser levels, construction level, GPS, or total station would be considered an asset. Training can be provided.
• Comfortable communicating and providing direction to Contractors and other personal on construction sites.
• Able to keep organized notes related to daily site activities, contractor equipment used and document with photos.
• Working knowledge of Ontario Provincial Standards (OPS) is beneficial, but not a requirement.
• A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology would be an asset
• Licensed to practice as a Certified Engineering Technologist in Ontario, or eligible to be licensed within six months, an asset
• Basic understanding of AutoCAD would be an asset, but not required.

Experience:

• Experience as a resident inspector on land development or municipal infrastructure projects
• Work experience in the construction industry including underground services, concrete and pavement installation, or residential housing construction.
• Working knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial construction and building code standardsKnowledge of construction contracts and administration
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written) are essential
