A remarkably collaborative and supportive team player, the new Service Support Workers will join the existing team of professionals here at the Downtown Mission.A true multitasker who is confident in decision-making, the ideal candidate will enjoy the latitude and autonomy of completing the task at hand. Polished, diplomatic individuals with strong interpersonal skills, the ideal candidates will be socially comfortable in actively stimulating contacts and authentically interacting with diverse communities of individuals.Above average communicators (verbal and writing skills), the Service Support Workers will communicate clearly and will compellingly convey events both verbally and in written form.In addition to an understanding and appreciation of the Downtown Mission’s faith based traditions, the ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in, link with or knowledge of the unique challenges facing the poor and marginalized in our community, as well as the socio economic challenges of Windsor-Essex. All applicants must be available to work all shifts including afternoons, midnights, days and holidays.Education & Skills: Each candidate for the SSW position must have a minimum of an Addiction’s Councilor Certification or equivalent. As well as relevant experience working with low income / marginalized clients and the ability to treat clients in a way, which is non-judgmental, and without bias.
