We’re united by a shared commitment to excellent and equitable health care.Position OverviewEntry Point Screeners greet employees, patients and visitors to the respective site while carrying out safety screening criteria prior to allowing entry. Duties include greeting persons seeking entry to the Care Home during a provincial state of emergency for pandemic management and to help carry out the safety screening criteria prior to allowing workplace entry or visitation during established time periods daily. Training will be provided for screening processes and cleaning of certain equipment or surfaces of certain work areas. Training will be provided.Education and TrainingHigh School Education, Manitoba Standards required.Participates in staff general and safety orientation as required.Participates in any additional training, which may include paid job shadowing shift(s) to promote a better understanding of the job responsibilities and tasks assigned.Qualifications and SkillsRespectful of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds of patients and their family members.Friendly personality and a genuine interest in helping others.Conscientious, organized and attention to detail.Ability to adhere to the site safety policies, confidentiality and dress code.English communication skills. An English Proficiency test will be applied, see Selection Process.Compliance with workplace safely, PPE policies and procedures required.Physical RequirementsPosition involves walking and standing for sustained periods of time.Must be in good general physical and mental health, visual, aural acuity and manual dexterity required, and demonstrate emotional stability.Position involves standing and some walking for sustained periods of time and able to tolerate these requirements along with wearing of PPE during a shift.Able to tolerate early morning or late afternoon/evening and weekend shifts as scheduled. Possible alternate weekends scheduled.General Standard SkillsExcellent communication skills with people generally and able to exercise patience while performing all duties.Conscientious, organized and attention to detail.Adhere to the site safety policies and follow a modest dress code while wearing closed heel shoes-including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required for all screeners (e.g. mask, face shield, gown, etc.)Compliance with workplace safety and safe use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) procedures as applicable.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAvailable to work any days, evenings and weekends with varying shifts and hours assigned as a member of the facility staff screening team for required Care Home entry.Work with Care Home approved cleaning products, follow cleaning protocols per infection prevention and control guidelines by cleaning surfaces in related work areas to help prevent the spread of viruses or germs. Cleaning of screening/social visit areas as per facility practice/protocol using facility approved cleaners.Give simple directions for education on expected PPE to persons entering facility as may be needed. (e.g. visitor, vendor, i.e. MTS, Shaw cable, etc.)Assist in the coordination/support/scheduling of a resident family visit as per established schedule for social visits and help ensure participants adhere to schedule, visit duration time and associated Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) guidelines including PPE as required.Ability to reliably deny access to facility based on screening protocols and screening requirements.Screen persons entering facility or visiting areas according to current screening protocols.Transport residents to and from visiting areas as required. (use of wheelchairs or stand-by escort)Willing and able to work with an older adult population is essential.Follows personnel policies and related procedures as communicated at the paid facility Safety and General Orientation sessions.Maintains confidentiality as per facility policy as it relates to residents and staff information (e.g. Personal Health Information, Files, telephone calls, faxes, emails, etc.)Communicates screening information or directions to appropriate staff and managers/leaders or other visitors pertaining to persons not meeting the screening criteria while maintaining privacy.Maintains a respectful attitude towards others. (e.g. staff, residents, their families and friends)Performs assigned duties with minimum supervision, while maintaining reliability, efficiency, accuracy and consistency in completing all assigned tasks.Other assigned tasks by supervisor related to Covid-19 measures including added hours.Selection ProcessScreening: Candidates will be pre-screened based on education and experience. Eligible candidates will be interviewed.English Proficiency Test: Candidates will be submitted to an English language test (Writing, Reading, Listening, and Speaking).The English Proficiency Test is REQUIRED and will be considered a condition of employment, which means that any eligible candidates will be required to first pass testing. The candidates that successfully pass the test will move to stage two of the interview process. If candidate fails, will no longer be eligible to proceed with interview for position and will not be considered further in the selection process.Interview: Candidates will be interviewed by the Senior Leadership Team.References: At least three (3) professional references will be required, and references will be checked prior to hiring.I have read the above job description and fully understand its requirements. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT.
