Job Description

CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB), located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada is a provincial agency which provides clinical and academic services and leadership for cancer control and the treatment of blood disorders. We invite applications for the position of:Program Coordinator - Community RelationsUnderserved Populations Program – MacCharlesPermanent, Full-time (1.0 EFT)Competition# 028-23-7150986Job Summary:The Program Coordinator - Community Relations leads all steps in activities that start and grow community relations to better understand and respond to community needs to improve cancer control and outcomes in ManitobaThe Program Coordinator uses a health equity and community-based approaches to cancer care, and is responsible for applying the decisions of management. The Program Coordinator works closely with the Underserved Populations Program team.The Community Relations Coordinator reports to the Program Manager - Education and Community Relations.Qualifications:Required:

  • Bachelors degree in either: Health Services Management, Human Resources, Business Administration, Volunteer Management, Management or other health related field is required. A combination of related education and experience may be considered
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Managed projects for at least 3 years
  • Planned programs for at least 2 years
  • Program evaluation experience for at least 2 years
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with community engagement/development
  • Demonstrated understanding of health equity and how it impacts patient care, experience and outcomes
  • Demonstrated awareness of equity deserving populations at risk of not receiving adequate provision or access to cancer care, such as but not limited to First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples, newcomers, sexual and gender minorities, older adults, and individuals who are geographically isolated.
  • Experience in respectfully working with First Nations, Métis and Inuit partners
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including public speaking and presenting
  • Experience in collaborating with multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work in several projects at the same time
  • Ability to problem solve and use good judgement
  • Ability to work on their own and with a team
  • Good skills working with others
  • Must be able to begin and keep positive relationships with all staff and the public
  • Skills in computer work, such as the internet, Windows platforms and Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
  • Experience working with web-based communications meeting tools such as Teams and Zoom
  • Evening and weekend work may occur
  • Some travel may be required
  • Must have access to a vehicle and valid Class 5 Drivers License
  • Satisfactory employment record
  • Must be able to legally work in Canada
Preferred:
  • Bachelors degree
  • Familiar with health care settings
  • Experience in writing grant, proposal, or business documents
  • Facilitated and/or learned about Adult education
Asset:
  • Masters degree
  • Able to show an understanding of written and number-based program evaluation
  • Experience working in and with communities and familiar with rural health care settings
  • Familiar with the cancer patient journey
  • Worked with Elder/ Knowledge Keepers
  • Familiar with the Manitoba Cancer system
  • Research Experience
  • Ability to speak French
