CancerCare Manitoba located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada is a provincial agency which provides clinical and academic services and leadership for cancer control and the treatment of blood disorders. We invite applications for the position of:Radiation Oncology Physics ResidentMedical Physics - MacCharlesTerm, Full-Time (1.0 EFT)November 1, 2022 – January 25, 2025Competition #: 068-21-714203007Job Summary:CancerCare Manitoba treats approximately 3700 radiation therapy patients per year. We operate eight linear accelerators including a state-of-the-art EDGE linear accelerator dedicated to stereotactic radiation therapy 6D couch, HDMLC, aS1200 EPID, and Calypso system) which is operated in collaboration with the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre. Other advanced equipment includes three CT simulators, a PET/CT simulator (at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre), an HDR brachytherapy unit, a multi-workstation treatment planning system (including 3DCRT, IMRT, and RapidArc), a prostate seed implant program, and an orthovoltage unit. We also support an intra-cranial Radiosurgery Program collaboratively with the adjacent Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre, which was the first in Canada to employ an Elekta Gamma KnifeÒ. We operate one of Canadas longest running radiation oncology physicist residency programs (CAMPEP accredited since 2009) as well as a CAMPEP-accredited medical physics graduate program which is affiliated with the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Manitoba. Our research activities include theoretical and experimental studies of dosimetry using electronic portal imaging devices, biological targeting using advanced functional MR imaging, and multi-objective optimization for treatment planning.The radiation oncology Physics Resident supports the Radiation Oncology Program. During the twenty-seven-month program the Resident will attain the technical expertise and leadership required to deliver radiation treatment accurately, safely and efficiently. The Resident will gain detailed knowledge of fundamental physical and scientific principles applied to radiation medicine, including the areas of radiation dosimetry, quality assurance, treatment planning, brachytherapy, image-guidance, instrumentation, patient safety, and risk management. The Resident is responsible for assisting with implementing technical and clinical innovation as well as optimizing quality of care and operational efficiencies during their rotations.Qualifications:Requirements:
