Job Description

Delivering on our core values of Respect, Integrity and Service Excellence.As a perennial “Top Manitoba Employer”, WAA prides itself as an organization that attracts engaged employees with the right skills, in the right place, and at the right time. http://www.waa.caClosing Date: October 12, 2021The OpportunityReporting to the Manager of Finance Airport Operations, the Accounting Associate provides support functions to the Accounts Payable Coordinator, Accounts Receivable Coordinator and the Manager of Finance. This role is responsible for preparing and processing invoices, recording and tracking payments, and processing payments in accordance with financial processes and practices.Responsibilities include

  • Performing Accounts Receivable and treasury tasks by: recording and reconciling daily cash and credit payments, processing payments in the G/L, depositing cheques, maintaining and reconciling petty cash, reviewing activity in bank accounts and investigating outstanding debits and credits, processing point of sale payments and refunds, billing, and monitoring the accounts receivable inbox;
  • Supporting Accounts Payable by: receiving invoices, entering invoices into the accounting system, monitoring the accounts payable email inbox, and maintaining the A/P filing system;
  • Performing Month end duties including: Following up on open PO’s, preparing journal entries, completing month end reporting and reconciling accounts;
  • Maintaining vendor records by setting up new vendors, completing credit applications, and responding to inquiries; and
  • Providing back-up and support to Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable.
Selection Criteria include:
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a previous finance, accounting or book keeping role with knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures;
  • Minimum of one year Post-secondary education in a related program;
  • Demonstrated experience with Excel spreadsheets, word processing, and accounting software;
  • Demonstrated experience in accounts receivable cash applications and accounts payable functions;
  • Demonstrated experience with accruals and account reconciliations;
  • Detail orientated individual with strong organizational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines;
  • Strong communication skills, with experience dealing with customers;
  • Aptitude for learning new tasks, software programs and taking on new challenges;
  • Ability to assess current processes and recommend improvements;
  • General understanding of PST and GST regulations; and
  • Fast learner with the ability to work independently and with a team.
