Wawanesa actively gives back to organizations that strengthen communities where it operates, donating well above internationally recognized benchmarks for excellence in corporate philanthropy.We are currently looking for dedicated, driven, and enthusiastic individuals who thrive in an environment that welcomes change and are looking for an opportunity for diverse experience and advancement on a growing team.Job OverviewWawanesa Insurance is currently hiring Actuarial Interns to assist on a variety of challenging and impactful actuarial projects within our Property & Casualty Actuarial Group within Executive Office The internship will provide an opportunity to gain experience in some key actuarial functions such as: pricing, valuation, modelling, stress testing, risk management, data analytics and oversight of reinsurance programs.If you love a challenge and are open to learning in a dynamic and growing organization that allows for exposure to a variety of core actuarial functions, consider this opportunity! The internship term will begin in January 2022 and last for a period of four months.Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a solution for a current business challenge
• Research and design approaches to data analysis and organization
• Work closely with other Actuaries to improve existing and new actuarial models
• Attend and participate in Actuarial meetings
• Present the final work product to the Actuarial Group and key business leaders
• Document completed work for ongoing use by Actuarial staff

Qualifications

• Second or third year of study, majoring with the Actuarial focus within studies in either Commerce or Science degree
• Ability to apply knowledge of actuarial science, mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to problems in insurance
• Ability to translate problem solving methods and ideas to various computer languages efficiently and effectively
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly
• Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments in a timely manner
• Strong attention to detail with an eye for accuracy
• Works efficiently and cooperatively in a team environment
