Wawanesa actively gives back to organizations that strengthen communities where it operates, donating well above internationally recognized benchmarks for excellence in corporate philanthropy.We are currently looking for dedicated, driven, and enthusiastic individuals who thrive in an environment that welcomes change and are looking for an opportunity for diverse experience and advancement on a growing team.Job OverviewWorking under minimal supervision, the Annuities Specialist assists with both strategic and business as usual initiatives within annuities and investments to achieve efficient and streamlined processes as well as take on a leadership role in the creation, implementation, and support of change management initiatives, including training.Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in Contact Centre group for inbound/outbound client and broker calls; emails; and customer requests.
  • Mentor and develop team members to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and best practices within the annuities department and to ensure consistency in the implementation of change.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to team members, including acting as a resource for any technological implementations.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance of annuity policies through regular audits, training and reporting.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure process or decision changes affecting other teams are communicated with providing any necessary resulting process change recommendations.
  • Champion the development and implementation of business change including new products and strategic initiatives.
  • Recommend changes to documentation, including training material, procedures and user manuals.
  • Lead and/or participate in periodic reviews for quality assurance and risk monitoring.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends within annuities to ensure Wawanesa Life is prepared to respond in a manner consistent with our vision and values
  • Foster positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 5 years of equivalent annuities/investment work experience
  • Post-secondary education in a related field would be an asset
  • Actively working towards or completion of the ACS and/or ALMI designation is required
  • Strong leadership skills to positively influence team members and provide direction
  • Leadership experience would be an asset
  • Advanced understanding of annuity/investment principles
  • Strong math skills, preferably with demonstrated experience in insurance related calculations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present information in a convincing manner
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to handle changing priorities and fluctuating work volumes to meet deadlines
  • Excellent decision-making skills with the ability to provide justification
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify relevant information and potential impacts
  • Demonstrated ability to show initiative with strong problem solving skills
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite is required, including the ability to use Excel for reporting and analysis of information
  • Excellent customer service skills including empathy and concern for our customers
