Job Description

Associate Dean, LibraryApplications are invited for internal candidates for the position of Associate Dean of the Library at The University of Winnipeg. The appointment will be for a five-year term with a start date of July 1, 2021.The Associate Dean reports to and assists the Dean on diverse operational, academic and administrative matters that further the library’s mission to support UWinnipeg teaching and research; to develop, manage and make accessible UWinnipeg’s collections and resources; and to be a place for students to engage, study, and collaborate. The Associate Dean will oversee key Library operational functions and initiatives as assigned, and will act for the Dean in their absence, both internally and externally.Responsibilities Include:Policy planning and development;Library facilities oversight;Ensuring Library compliance with the Accessibility for Manitobans legislation;Management of key Library Renewal projects and processes;Acting Dean responsibilities as assigned;Other duties as assigned.The ideal candidate will possess:An MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution is required.A proven track record of administrative leadership and operational management within academic libraries is required.Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills, as well as a collaborative working style is required.Experience working collaboratively across UWinnipeg is preferred.Experience in the preparation of briefings, reports, presentations and other communications to senior management is preferred.Experience working with the University’s collective agreements, policies and procedures would be considered an asset.Applications must be submitted online via The University of Winnipeg’s online recruitment system, and should include a cover letter and the names and contact information of three (3) referees, along with a curriculum vitae.
