As a perennial “Top Manitoba Employer”, the WAA prides itself as an organization that attracts engaged employees with the right skills, in the right place, and at the right time. http://www.waa.caAssociate Network/Infrastructure AdministratorJob Title: Associate Network/Infrastructure AdministratorReports to: Manager, Cybersecurity & IT InfrastructureClosing Date: June 10, 2022The OpportunityReporting to the Manager, Cybersecurity & IT Infrastructure, the Associate Network/Infrastructure Administrator (ANIA) is responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation, and management of WAAs system and network infrastructure. The purpose of the ANIA is to ensure the stable operations of WAA’s IT assets. The ANIA is tasked with providing technical expertise in all areas of network and system infrastructure. The ANIA works with the IT team to design, configure, support, and optimize all new and existing server & network hardware and communication systems hosted on-premises and on the cloud.Responsibilities include:

  • Perform HW/SW upgrades and patches, implement backup/restore to improve performance, functionality, and reliability of the network, on-prem servers & storage, and cloud IaaS services
  • Administer the WAA structured cabling plant to ensure standards are upheld for Horizontal and Backbone cabling, perform Cat6 and fiber network patching
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure Facilities Alteration Permits and access control procedures to IT rooms are up to date and followed
  • Work with tenants, cabling contractors, and stakeholders to assist with the design, installation, and maintenance of the cabling infrastructure within Telecommunication and Equipment rooms, building Entrance Facilities and Telco Point of Presence demarcation point
  • Perform routine maintenance and capacity planning to maximize resource utilizations and efficiency of the network, on-prem servers & storage, and cloud IaaS services
  • Develop policies, operating procedures and documentation, and automation related to the administration of the network, on-prem servers & storage, and cloud IaaS services
  • Provide technical training to other support personnel
  • Assist with On-call rotation and Helpdesk functions
  • Other duties as assigned.
Selection Criteria include:
  • Certificate or degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
  • Three (3) years of experience in a network/infrastructure administrator or related position, including: system & network administration of on-prem & cloud infrastructure
  • Completed or working towards an IT Administrator Certification (Windows Server, Linux, VMWare, Network, Azure Cloud)
  • Technical knowledge of enterprise-class technologies such as MFA, IDS/IPS, firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, VPNs, virtualization, desktop and server operating systems
  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft’s enterprise technology platform, including Azure, Active Directory, SQL, Office365, and the Windows server and desktop operating systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of network protocols (e.g., IPv4/IPv6/TCP/UDP/DNS/HTTP)
  • Wired/Wireless network and data communication fundamentals, structure cabling systems, cable terminations, as well as telecommunication and network operations experience
  • Demonstrated experience working with project and IT teams in deploying and configuring IT infrastructure
  • Experience with problem/incident response, developing processes, and writing procedures
  • Strong customer service orientation
