At the University of Manitoba, what inspires you can change everything.The opportunity: Reporting to the Dean, this position is an integral member of the Faculty’s Leadership Team. The Budget Officer is responsible for the strategic development and deployment of financial resources required to fulfil the Faculty’s academic mission, and oversees the efficient and effective preparation, management and maintenance of all financial resources. Areas of responsibility include: financial and strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting and materials procurement for all fund types (operating, capital, research/grant, trusts and endowments).The qualifications and experience we’re looking for: - A Charted Professional Accountant Designation (CPA) is required.- 7 years of progressive experience in a senior financial leadership role, including strategic planning, budgeting, financial analysis, and accounting.- Experience in a managerial/leadership capacity.- Knowledge of University policies and procedures as they relate to finance and appointments required.- Experience in spreadsheet development essential.- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.- Proven skills in financial analysis of profit and loss budget drivers required.- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access as well as Adobe Acrobat required.- Demonstrated proficiency in financial management systems, such as Aurora Finance and Aurora Student required.- Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy essential required.- Ability to make sound independent judgements and utilize problem solving abilities required.- Ability to perform efficiently under pressure as a result of deadlines required.- Ability to effectively and efficiently handle multiple, simultaneous, and complex tasks and projects required.- Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate key elements of complex issues/processes required.- Ability to deal effectively with all levels of staff, students and the public while maintaining good relations required.- Ability to establish relationships with Faculty and University senior academic administrators/staff, being aware of political sensitivities and confidentiality issues required.- Ability to demonstrate tact and flexibility when dealing with potentially conflicting views and needs required.- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.Why the University of ManitobaAlong with being one of Manitoba’s top employers, we are proud to provide a collaborative and enriching work environment.
