Job Description

True North Sports + Entertainment is looking for motivated andenergetic individuals to join our team.Camp Manitou is a summer camp and year-round outdoor recreation facility located 5 minutes outsideof Winnipeg. We provide a wide range of activities, challenging educational programming, and theperfect environment to step out of the everyday and connect with nature.We are currently looking to fill the following full time seasonal positions: Spring/Summer LeadershipThe Spring / Summer staff will be assuming assistant leadership positions, working with the Fulltimestaff to facilitate programming and outdoor education to our Spring groups, as well as helping in theplanning and set up for Summer Camp. In the summer, these positions will oversee different aspects ofCamp (Volunteers, Prospects, Camper relations, Activities, Administration, Medical).Group/Activity LeadersBoth positions will be responsible for delivering assigned programming in a safe, professional funmanner to Camp participants, daily.Activity Leaders

  • Responsible for ensuring activities are set up daily and deliver programming as assigned by
the Programming Coordinator.
  • Daily records of equipment use and safety checks.
Group Leaders
  • Responsible for the supervision of Campers from arrival to departure, ensuring their safety
and well- being.Lifeguards
  • Head Lifeguard/Waterfront Director and Lifeguards required to ensure the safety of campers
and other users in our Pool and new man-made Lake.
  • Responsible to supervise both the pool and waterfront (boating only), oversee chemical testing
in the pool and instructing the boating activities, as well as care of the facilities and equipment.Mountain Bike Leader
  • Assist with the training of other staff and oversee the tracks, ensuring the safety of campers and
other users.
  • Responsible for the care and upkeep of the biking equipment.
  • Knowledge and execution of Risk Management practices will be of utmost importance
Ropes and Climbing Leader
  • Previous knowledge in the climbing world and has training and experience with top rope
belaying, preferably using multiple belay devices.
  • Oversee the trained activity staff at each of above- mentioned apparatuses.
  • Knowledge and execution of Risk Management practices will be of utmost importance.
What We Need from You
  • Previous experience working with children and youth.
  • Previous camp experience an asset.
  • Between the ages of 17 and 30. Preference will be given to fulltime students.
  • Current Emergency First Aid + CPR C and AED certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start
date).
  • Must complete a Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Populations and Child Abuse Registry prior
to start date.
  • Relevant certifications in outdoor activities an asset.
  • Love of the outdoors and respect for nature.
  • Willingness to step into any position necessary (with proper training) as needed
  • Willingness to adhere to our Mission, Vision and Values.
  • Maintain a respectful environment for all participants and staff.
All positions will be within the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday with weekend,evenings, and overnight shifts required/available depending on Public Health Orders.Spring/Summer position start dates will vary based on position.Due to the nature of the sports and entertainment industry where indoor public assembly takes place, it is TrueNorth’s expectation that all employees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in a manner approved by HealthCanada.
