Banff Constructors Ltd is looking for all levels of carpenters to join our team in the Winnipeg area!Job descriptionBanff Constructors Ltd. is an experienced workforce contractor of skilled labour to the commercial, industrial, civil, and infrastructure construction industry in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. We supply trade crafts people, such as labourers, apprentice and journeyman carpenters, equipment operators, surveyors, mechanics, lead hands/foremen, and superintendents on an open-shop basis. Since 1983 Banff Constructors has had a proven track record of business success, growth and providing steady work for our employees. Our aim is to provide expert construction services with a focus on teamwork, performance, safety and success.Position SummaryPosses the full range of knowledge of materials, methods and tools required to construct, install, renovate and repair commercial or industrial structures constructed of wood, steel, concrete and other materials using carpenter’s hand tools and power tools and equipment. Studies blueprints, sketches or building plans to determine specifications and calculate requirements.Duties & Responsibilities· Erect wood framework; walls, partitions, joints, drywalls and rafters· Installs doors and windows, floor coverings, ceilings, trims· Builds stairs· Build forms for concrete· Lays flooring· Installs cabinetry· Working from blueprints instructions from supervisors does layout-measuring, marking and arranging of various construction materials· Cut, shape and join· Checks accuracy of works and makes adjustments as required· Studies blueprints for work planning· Constructs and forms chutes for pouring concrete· Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level· Acts as a work leader and mentors to apprentice carpenters· Informs immediate supervisor of abnormalities or defects and/or takes appropriate measuresQualificationsEducation/Experience: Active apprenticeship or Journeyperson status OR minimum 5 years of related work experience*Or an equivalent combination of experience, training and educationKnowledge & SkillsKnowledge: (trade specific knowledge – technical competencies)

  • Knowledge of trade mathematics and imperial and metric measurements
  • Knowledge of the characteristics of construction materials and their proper use
  • Knowledge of installation equipment, techniques, wiring or programs to meet specifications
Skills: (behavioral competencies)
  • Ability to work at heights, good balance
  • Ability to bend, stretch, lift push, pull and carry
  • Ability to coach, mentor and train apprentices
  • Ability to describe and point out safety compliance and regulatory issues
