Job Description

ABOUT THE LINK: YOUTH AND FAMILY SUPPORTSFor more than 90 years, The Link (formally known as Macdonald Youth Services) has helped youth and families on a journey to healing, hope and better lives. The organization is dedicated to walking alongside children, youth and families as an inclusive community, strengthening and empowering a sense of being, pride and purpose. With over 15 diverse programs, The Link has a community of caring staff that work together to provide support through a 24-hour crisis line, youth resource centres, emergency shelters, mobile crisis teams, specialized foster care, healing homes, job readiness supports and Skills4Life. With a strong foundation within the community and a focus on connection, unity and compassion, the organization provides a vital link for youth and families in the province of Manitoba.ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:Reporting to the Chief Operational Officer, the Clinical Team Lead will be responsible for the management of the Mobile Crisis Team Youth Crisis Stabilization System (MCT YCSS). The successful incumbent will promote a work environment that aligns with The Link’s core values, and our strategic drivers of becoming youth centric, a centre of excellence and building culturally safe services and programs. The duties and responsibilities are carried out within a trauma and resiliency informed framework, within a team environment that focuses on establishing collaborative and trusting relationships. Providing culturally competent services and ensuring youth safety, choice and control are priorities at The Link.Reporting to the Chief Operational Officer, the Clinical Team Lead’s duties include but are not limited to:

  • Lead, motivate, develop and manage the YCSS team in order to achieve organizational goals;
  • Provide exemplary leadership through on-site mentorship to Clinicians, Intake Clinicians and Supervisors;
  • Coordinate and implement strategies, plans, programs, projects, tools, data and reports for the YCSS program that achieve the organizational goals;
  • Implement annual and operational plans to ensure alignment with goals of the organization;
  • Collaborate with the YCSS Team by providing input to the clinical aspects of case management which involves therapeutic issues, such as intake, treatment plans, discharge planning, support requests and contact with collaterals;
  • In collaboration with Human Resources, hire and provide orientation and training to new hires and students;
  • Promote and liaise with community partners and families to determine the future needs for the program;
  • Promote and comply with various legislation (i.e. Workplace Safety and Health Act, Human Rights Act, Licensing Standards, Collective Bargaining Agreements);
  • Ensure that any applicable licensing standards are met and maintained;
  • Attend and facilitate YCSS staff meetings;
  • Review Payworks, Scheduling, Overtime, Absence Management, complete regular audits;
  • Provide consultation to collateral agencies such as Children’s Mental Health, Child and Family Services, schools, and probation;
  • Facilitate trainings and workshops for collaterals upon request and with consultation from Chief Operational Officer;
  • Provide on-call support to programs;
  • Monitor and respond to internal and external challenges and risks;
  • Represent The Link externally and internally;
  • Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working within a child welfare setting;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing/supervising teams in a social services setting;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working within complex systems;
  • Demonstrated capacity to foster alignment within teams to achieve organizational goals;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of family and social challenges facing Indigenous children, youth and families, including intergenerational impacts;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous cultures and a broad based knowledge of Indigenous healing modalities, practices and ceremonies;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of therapeutic needs of youth in care settings;
  • Excellent organizational, leadership and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrated proficiency working with Microsoft Office at an intermediate level;
  • A valid driver’s license;
  • Clear Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check and Prior Contact Check;
  • This position supports 24/7 operations and, as such, is required to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, overnights and weekends.
EDUCATION (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline;
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered.
