Overview:Reporting to the Supervisor, Commercial Estimating, the Commercial Estimator is responsible for estimating damage to all types of commercial and non-commercial vehicles at the Holding Compound and other locations, often involving losses having a significant financial impact. The position is required to have knowledge and understanding of both the Commercial Repair Industry, as well as the Light Vehicle Repair Industry.Working in a team environment, the Commercial Estimator reviews repairs completed by commercial repair facilities, both in and out of the province. Estimators review and validate supplemental repairs requested by a body shop during the repair process.Responsibilities:Inspects all types of commercial and non-commercial vehicles at the Holding Compound and other locations and confirms damage in accordance with MPI Guidelines and industry standards.Prepares commercial and heavy truck vehicle damage estimates using Mitchell Heavy Duty Truck Programs.Determines whether a vehicle is repairable or a total loss.Completes engine, frame and mechanical inspections as required.Provides information and guidance to help resolve issues involving claimants, repair shops and claims staff.Attends to road call duties and out-of-province (OOP) files as required.Re-inspects commercial vehicles after repairs are complete and documents findings. Assists the Accredited Repair department perform inspections on commercial and specialty items.Provides technical and estimating support for rural and city service centres for commercial, recreational vehicle (RV) remediation, and RV repair estimates.Reviews and advises adjusting staff on OOP light vehicle estimates from other jurisdictions.Attends road calls at RV and off-road vehicle (ORV) repair facilities for repair issues and supplements, including remediation and repairs.Reviews repairs completed by repair facilities, and authorizes additional repairs if requested during the repair process.Priorizes work to ensure high level of service to customers and repair facilities.Networks with the repair industry to establish, build, and maintain strong, long-term relationships.Qualifications:Journeyperson Certificate (Red Seal) or Certificate of Qualification in Motor Vehicle Body Repairer, Automotive Service Technician, or Truck and Transport Mechanic.Seven years of bench experience in autobody repair including one year experience in a customer service capacity.ORHigh school diploma or equivalent.Ten years of bench experience in autobody repair including one year experieince in a customer service capacity.Platinum status in Estimator or Auto Physical Damage Appraiser role within the I-CAR Gold Class Professionals Designation program, or willingness to complete and maintain designation.Commercial estimating/repair experience is an asset.Working knowledge of applicable OEM requirements.Working knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations.
