POSITION AVAILABLE Title: Community CoordinatorTerm: Permanent, Full-time (35 hours per week)Location: Work from Home Office with regular, travel required across Winnipeg, MB and surrounding areas.Employment Start Date: November, 2022Application Deadline: October 19, or ongoing until position is filledWhy Literacy Work with purpose at Frontier College. We acknowledge that Manitoba is located on the Homeland of the Metis Nation.The opportunity: Frontier College currently partners with schools, community organizations, and IndigenousCommunities to reach children, youth, adults and families through after school reading circles, homework clubs, 1-to-1 tutoring, family literacy workshops, reading tents, and summer literacy camp programs in Winnipeg and surrounding areas. We are growing our work in the province through the development of new and diverse partnerships with communities and organizations. We are seeking a Community Coordinator to organize contract staff and support the delivery of a range of programs, including core year and summer activities across various communities in Manitoba.This position will work from a home based office but will be required to travel to project sites regularly. Mileage will be reimbused for all travel to and from project sites. This position will work both independently and as part of a larger team across Manitoba and Saskatchwan. This position will be responsible for community relationship building, logistics and planning, staff hiring and training, project delivery, administration, evaluation and reporting.Main responsibilities and major duties:

  • Coordinate, implement, promote, support, and evaluate literacy programming in Winnipeg and surrounding areas.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, support, and manage volunteers, literacy interns, camp counselors and summer students to work in the community and other rural settings.
  • Develop and support new and existing community partnerships.
  • Assist in coordinating, delivering, and evaluating community-based conferences, special events, workshops and presentations.
  • Assist with writing reports and manage annual program budgets.
  • Coordinate and implement all logistics related to summer literacy camps including travel, training, food, housing, materials, shipping, etc.
  • Support literacy programming through community visits, weekly follow up calls, daily problem- solving, managing social media, etc.
  • Travel to rural and remote locations from time to is required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Attributes and Requirements
  • Knowledge of literacy, community development and social issues.
  • Knowledge and experience working in community settings, with volunteers, community partners, and indigenous communities
  • Able to think critically, solve problems and manage details.
  • Work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Skills in volunteer management, partnership development, outreach, networking, workshop planning and facilitation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Computer skills (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, etc).
  • Organized, able to manage multiple tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced, lively and continually changing environment
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

  • Experience with travel to and/or working in remote locations
  • Experience working with FNMI communities
  • Welcoming, confident, and friendly manner, with excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills.
  • Experience delivering training material and fostering a vibrant, inclusive learning environment

Working with Frontier CollegeSalary: $44,300 per yearHours of Work: 35 hours a week between Monday – Friday. Some evening and weekend work will be requiredIn addition to your salary, you will benefit from:Paid time off:
