EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITYPOSITION: COMPUTER NETWORK TECHNICIAN DEPARTMENT: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY COMPETITION NUMBER: 2022IT-CNT01 APPLICATION DEADLINE: 4:00 p.m., Friday, July 15, 2022SALARY/WAGE: $28.64 per hourPOSITION TYPE: Permanent, Full-Time, 37.5 hours per weekANTICIPATED START DATE: As soon as possibleJOB SUMMARY The Computer Network Technician is responsible for assisting system users directly by conducting on-site training to promote efficient operations, answering questions to avoid or resolve systems-related problems and providing technical support for all users in CAHRD. The Computer Network Technician is required to set, install and maintain hardware such as switchers, routers, pbx, cameras, security filters and servers.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage help assisting employees and clients in resolving basic hardware and software related problems. (Provide technical and help desk support).
  • Manage the maintenance of: antivirus solutions, technical library, audio visual resourcing, ADSL and high-speed cable modems, firewall and proxy servers, organization data integrity, software licensing, high speed cable modems, and the setup and support of email messaging.
  • Manage Barracuda branded web filters and email filters. Ensures the firmware’s are up to date and that revisions to configuration for access are maintained on a daily basis.
  • Configure and maintain softwareÙ« hardware and peripheral devices and run tests on a regular basis, not limited to
Phones, computers and cabling.
  • Install hardware/software/cabling; relocate equipment as required.
  • Review new software applications prior to full implementation to determine ease of use and detect potential problems.
  • Control the performance, access, and use of systems and networks.
  • Troubleshoot system failures and identify bottlenecks to ensure long term efficiency of network
  • Keep up to date with new technologies (both hardware & software).
  • Update all current records pertaining to information systems, maintain succession manuals.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of CAHRD.
  • Manage IP-PBX (voip telephone system), general duties adding users, editing passwords, deploying forwards and programming handsets).
  • Schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their own work.
  • Perform regular data backups to protect the organization’s information.
  • Refer complex problems to supervisor or other designated contact as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Relevant post secondary education related to information technology and/or a combination of experience in the IT field.; additional certifications such as CCENT or CCNA will be a bonus.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with the vulnerable person’s sector search and Child Abuse Registry Check.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License.
  • CAHRD requires all of its employees be fully vaccinated against Covid-19; proof of vaccination is required before signing of employment contract.

  • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion when dealing with privileged/confidential matters.
  • Experience with LAN/WAN networksÙ« TCP/IP protocols and network technologies.
  • Excellent knowledge of common software and hardware.
  • Excellent diagnosticÙ« problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, technical experts and other employees.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
