Job Description

We continue to remain a leader in the testing services industry and have established a distinguished reputation for providing best in class results and client services.IT Support Technician (CSO)Location: ALS Environmental, WinnipegReports to: Laboratory ManagerAbout the Position:This position is responsible for the day to day monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), computer software, and hardware.Specific Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain simple laboratory equipment; Maintains laboratory products and test packages in the database;
  • Programs software applications to import data directly from analytical equipment;
  • Install, configure and troubleshoot hardware and software;
  • Monitor, maintain and troubleshoot LIMS;
  • May provide LIMS Support for other ALS Environmental locations.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Intermediate English communication skills required (auditory, verbal, written, and reading);
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook), with Advanced knowledge of computers;
  • Accurate and efficient data entry skill is an asset;
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment;
  • Well organized, with the ability to meet strict deadlines;
  • Analytical and process oriented, with the ability to critically think in ambiguous situations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks as required;
  • Commitment to excellence and a client-focused attitude.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Diploma in computer science;
  • Experience with hardware, software applications, programming;
  • 5 years’ work experience in related field;
  • Chemistry/Biology background an asset;
  • Experience working with Laboratory Information Management Systems an asset.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit or stand for a full shift;
  • Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks.
