Job Description

DATE POSTED: Saturday, November 20, 2021EMPLOYER: The Fort GarryCITY/TOWN: WinnipegBUSINESS LOCATION: 222 BroadwayDESCRIPTION: The Fort Garry Hotel is excited to announce an opening for Conference Services Manager. The CSM will manage all contractual agreements pertaining to room blocks, meeting space, food & beverage, billing procedures and help facilitate all audio visual needs. A complete job description will be forwarded to all applicants that meet the pre-requisites noted below:

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or Hospitality/Tourism Management/Event Management Diploma/Degree are preferred but an equivalent of work experience in this position will also be considered an asset.
  • Must have excellent customer and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to plan and execute events effectively with a strong attention to detail is key.
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and Delphi.
  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and prioritizing skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Knowledge of staffing guidelines/requirements to set-up, turn and breakdown function spaces.
  • Extensive knowledge of all styles of function room set-ups, capacities and basic audiovisual equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge of food and beverage products, preparation, and presentation of food and beverage items.
  • Must possess conflict and negotiation management skills to handle difficult situations.
  • Ability to handle stress.
  • Availability and willingness to work weekends and evenings as required by the demands of group business.
