The overall purpose of this position is to provide nutritious meals and social support to older adults and persons with disabilities in a congregate dining setting, which assists them in maintaining their independence while remaining in their community.The Congregate Meal Program Coordinator reports to the Program Coordinator.POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMeal Preparation· Collaborate with Program Coordinator on monthly menus following the Canada’s Food Guide.· Assure a pleasant meal atmosphere.· Ensure the Kitchen and equipment are cleaned and maintained regularly.· Adhere to the health and safety regulations of the Community Resource Council and the Province of Manitoba.· Ensure all perishable food items (including fridge and freezer) are dated, labeled, and stored correctly.· Complete weekly checks of the fridge, freezer, and storage room to ensure rotation of food stock.· Plan and execute the Food & Friendship Program to meet current targets set out by the WRHA.· Ensure public health standards are maintained in the kitchen and common areas.· Other related duties as assigned.Volunteers· Work together with the Seniors Resource Coordinator to ensure that volunteers are arranged and notified for each event.· Encourage meal participants and community volunteers to assist with the meal program, meal preparation, serving, and clean up· Keep attendance records of participants and volunteers.Financial· Price meals to ensure quality and variety of meals are being provided in a cost-effective way.· Maintain a record of all purchases and other expenses.· Ensure that the “Kitchen Supplies†financial line stays within budget as well as be aware of the profitability of the meal programs.· Submit monthly budget reports to the Program Coordinator and Executive Director.Personnel/Administration· Maintain a neat, clean personal appearance.· Maintain communication and good working relationship with participants, volunteers, and staff.· Submit required monthly reports· Assist other staff members in areas that are needed· Must meet deadlines for newsletters, E-Blasts and statistics reportingREQUIREMENTS· The principles and methods of planning and organizing meal programs for older adults· Basic Nutrition· Understand dietary needs and food preparation for older persons· Obtain first aid and CPR certificate within six months after hire date· Have a current (if it is acquired within the last 6 months it is considered current)Winnipeg Police record check with the vulnerable sector check.· Should have healthy team working, team/building skills, be enthusiastic and personable, and can work independently and collaboratively with the teamASSETS· Current food handler certificate from the city of Winnipeg health department· Hold a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle· Experience in food preparation for large groupsJob Types: Part-time, PermanentPart-time hours: 20 per weekSalary: $21,600.00 per yearBenefits:
