Job Description

New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that provide supports in a variety of settings and foster people’s hopes and dreams in their communities.Shift Staffed Homes (SSH) provides 24/7 support to individuals living in community residential homes who live with intellectual disabilities and may experience complex mental and/or physical health issues.The Coordinator II is responsible for the supervision and oversight of multiple 24/7 shift-staffed homes providing community-based residential support to adults and youth living with a developmental disability.Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Staff management, providing 24/7 after hours supervisory support on a rotational basis;
  • Administration, and documentation according to all agency, service area and government standards;
  • Residence and vehicle maintenance; and financial responsibilities at the individual, home and service area levels.
  • The Coordinator attends professional development opportunities, demonstrates awareness of and is committed to continuous learning related to all issues and aspects of residential disability services and management skills.
  • The coordinator actively contributes to agency initiatives including committee work, training facilitation and projects.

What you will have:
  • Applicants must have a post-secondary education in a social services related field
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a supervisory capacity in the disability services field (or related field)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities
  • Proven knowledge and ability provide effective leadership within a team environment with respect, professionalism, and cultural awareness
  • Proven knowledge and ability in decision-making, problem-solving, crisis management and conflict resolution
  • Proven ability to of financial management
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proficiency using computers including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel
  • Participate in the scheduled management on-call rotation
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with access to a reliable vehicle
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) is considered an asset.
  • Valid First Aid and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certification
The salary range for this full-time 35 hour per week position is $27.33 to $38.27 per hour (equivalent to $49,740 to $69,651 per annum), dependent upon education and/or experience. This term position is for 3 months – September to December 2022.The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record, Child Abuse Registry, Adult Abuse Registry, and Prior Contact Checks.
