Shared Health Manitoba is hiring additional staff supporting our fight against COVID-19Requisition ID: 303621Posting End Date: Open until filledWork Location: Will be assigned to one of various locations in SH-SS including Morden & SteinbachUnion: Based on Classification of incumbentAnticipated Start Date: ASAPAnticipated Shift: Days, Evenings, WeekendsSalary: Based on Classification of incumbentJoin provincial efforts in the fight against COVID-19!!In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, a number of our departments across the province will require additional staffing to support our fight against COVID-19; while continuing to provide the best possible health care services to Manitobans.Manitoba recognizes the hard work and dedication of our front-line heath care providers and we are looking for additional experienced health care providers to offer support during these unprecedented and challenging times, to help provincial efforts to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19.Position Overview

  • Draws up and administers vaccines
  • Ensures cold chain of vaccine is maintained
  • Monitors for reactions post-immunization and manages any adverse effects following immunization as required
  • Follows informed consent process
  • Complies with workplace safety procedures
  • Follows PPE policies and procedures
  • Physically capable of carrying out clinical skills such as immunization
  • Physically able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 15 lbs or 6.8 kg
Education/QualificationsThe following health care professionals are eligible to apply for these positions and includes those who currently provide the COVID19 vaccine under their scope of practice and with the Ministerial Order:

  • Physician Assistants
  • Clinical Assistants
  • Nurse Practitioners
  • Registered Nurses
  • Registered Psychiatric Nurses
  • Licensed Practical Nurses
  • Paramedics
  • Pharmacists
  • Midwives
  • Dentists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Medical Lab Technologists
  • Respiratory Therapists
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Veterinarians
  • Veterinary Technologists
  • Chiropractors
  • Dental Hygienists
  • Optometrists
  • Massage Therapists
  • Persons qualified to practice medicine in another jurisdiction outside Manitoba or outside Canada
  • Persons qualified to practice registered nursing, licensed practical nursing or psychiatric nursing in another jurisdiction outside Manitoba or outside Canada
  • Health care students who meet the following requirements:
    • Medicine (2nd year or higher and completed immunization portion of curriculum)
    • Physician Assistant education program (and completed immunization portion of curriculum)
    • Licensed Practical Nursing (2nd year or higher and completed immunization portion of curriculum)
    • Psychiatric Nursing (2nd year or higher and completed immunization portion of curriculum)
    • Registered Nursing (2nd year or higher and completed immunization portion of curriculum)
    • Dentistry education program (2nd year or higher and completed injection portion of curriculum)
    • Medical Laboratory education program (2nd year or higher)
    • Occupational Therapy education program (2nd year or higher)
    • Paramedicine education program (and completed injection portion of curriculum)
    • Pharmacy (2nd year or higher)
    • Physiotherapy (2nd year or higher)
    • Respiratory therapy (3rd year or higher)
    • Graduates of a Council on Chiropractic Education (completed part B of the Canadian Chiropractic Examining Board competency examination)
    • Dental Hygiene (3rd year or higher and completed local anaesthetic training portion of the curriculum)
    • Dentistry (2nd year or higher and completed injection portion of the curriculum)
    • Optometry (3nd year or higher)
  • Former health care workers who are no longer registered with their professional licensing body:
    • Physicians
    • Physician Assistants
    • Licensed Practical Nurses
    • Registered Psychiatric Nurses
    • Registered Nurses
    • Pharmacists
    • Dentists
    • Medical Laboratory Technologist
    • Midwives
    • Occupational Therapists
    • Physiotherapists

Paid education will be providedAdditional Qualifications
  • Experience working in mass immunization clinics preferred
  • Previous Immunization clinic training preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of electronic clinics systems preferred and Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Teams) and general computer proficiency required
