Employment OpportunityCustomary Care WorkerWinnipeg Sub-OFFICESandy Bay Child & Family Services (SBCFS) is a mandated agency by the Southern First Nations Network of Care Child and Family Services Authority. The agency operates with the authority to provide child and family services to community members of Sandy Bay First Nation both on- and off-reserve.Position Summary: Reporting to the Customary Care Coordinator, the Customary Care Worker is responsible for the delivery of the Customary Care Program; and ensures, that the program is implemented in a manner based on unity, traditions, values, beliefs and customs of Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation; the Provincial Standards and in accordance with the Act respecting First Nations, Inuit, and Metis children, youth and families.Responsibilities & Duties: · Deliver the Agency’s Customary Care program and ensure adherence to the Agency’s policies and procedures as well as Provincial Standards.· Promote, support and maintain a network complement of kinship and foster care homes.· Recruit, select, train, provide orientation, and support Kinship Care/Foster Care Providers and families.· Develop and ensure the consistent adherence to the Agency protocol for the placement of children in children.· Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of each kinship/foster care placement.· Participate in job performance in accordance with the Agency’s policies, procedures and mission statement.· Maintain liaison with Agency staff, relevant personnel of community resources, professionals, traditional healers and all others concerned with the provision of the Customary Care Program.· Enters information on CFSIS and the Intake Module as required.· Regular travel to Sandy Bay First NationQualifications:

  • B.S.W., or Child & Family Services Diploma and/or equivalent education or a minimum of two years of experience in the field
  • Ability to obtain Registered Social Work status with the Manitoba College of Social Workers
  • Knowledge of the Manitoba CFS Act and Provincial Standards relevant to Foster Care Management
  • Commitment to adhering to the principles as noted in An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Metis children, youth and families
  • Demonstrated knowledge of collateral services/community resources and how to access
· Must have strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.· Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with support/professional staff and the public.· Demonstrated ability to work under minimum supervision and in a team setting.· Must possess strong organizational, time management and written skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.· Ability to achieve quality results while handling multiple tasks and experience in adapting to a changing workplace.· Knowledge of department programs and experience with Intake Module/CFSIS would be an asset.· Must have a valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle and willing to travel· Ability to speak Ojibway would be an assetThis position will be subject to a criminal record check, child abuse check and prior contact check.Remuneration commensurate with education and experience.Please forward a Resume and Cover Letter to: Nikki La FlecheHR ManagerSandy Bay Child & Family Services Closing date: June 22 2021(Only those selected for an interview will be contacted)Application deadline: 2021-06-22Job Type: PermanentBenefits:
