As a perennial “Top Manitoba Employer”, the WAA prides itself as an organization that attracts engaged employees with the right skills, in the right place, and at the right time. http://www.waa.caJob Title: Cybersecurity AnalystReports to: Manager, Cybersecurity & IT InfrastructureClosing Date: May 3, 2022The OpportunityReporting into the Manager, Cybersecurity & IT Infrastructure, the Cybersecurity Analyst is responsible for the implementation, management, and continuous improvement of WAAs cyber defenses and network infrastructure. The purpose of the Cybersecurity Analyst is to protect the security and privacy of WAAs data, systems, and IT infrastructure from cyber threats of all kinds. The Cybersecurity Analyst is tasked with providing technical expertise in all areas of internet, network, system, and application security. The Cybersecurity Analyst leads WAAs vulnerability management program, manages the annual cybersecurity assessments and penetration tests, researches and reports on emerging threats to help WAA take pre-emptive risk mitigation steps.Responsibilities include:

  • Deploy and administer intrusion detection/prevention systems, firewalls, network devices and various security related systems
  • Ensure the security, integrity, and proper functioning of networks
  • Investigate and resolve network performance issues
  • Assist with the On-call Rotation
  • Support cybersecurity and network projects by providing details on existing configurations, users, etc. to facilitate transition to replacement systems
  • Provide technical expertise regarding security-related concepts to project and operational teams
  • Responds to, and resolves incidents and problems
  • Communicates/escalates problems to IT teams and leaders as needed
  • Proactively monitor the environment to mitigate cyber-attacks before they occur
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments of company systems and networks
  • Review real-time and historical reports for security and/or compliance violations
  • Monitor online security-related resources for new and emerging cyber threats
  • Develop company-wide best practices for IT security
  • Develop, test, and maintain response plans for security events
  • Perform regular reporting to assess the organizations overall security posture
Selection Criteria include:
  • Certificate or degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
  • Completed or working towards an Information Security Certification (e.g., CISSP, GSEC, CEH)
  • Five (5) years of experience in a security analyst or related position
  • Technical knowledge of enterprise-class technologies such as MFA, IDS/IPS, SIEM, firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, VPNs, and desktop and server operating systems
  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft’s Azure enterprise technology platform
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and/or enforcing security and compliance frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience deploying and administering network infrastructure
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate security-related concepts to a broad audience
  • Working experience with threat management within a corporate environment
  • Experience with developing processes and security metrics, procedures, and reports
  • Strong customer service orientation
