(BCA) is seeking a Database Administrator reporting to the IT Application Development manager, working out of the Winnipeg, Manitoba office.The Database Administrator is the general focal for all items relating to database standards, design, security, tuning, backup and recovery.Position Responsibilities:

  • Designs, develops and maintains databases.
  • Designs, implements and supports database backup, recovery systems, database migration and archiving systems and procedures.
  • Implements database security infrastructure and manages user access accounts.
  • Collaborates with architects and technical specialists to identify proper hardware and software implementations.
  • Plans, installs and tests software upgrades and patches.
  • Monitors performance trends to identify and correct problems.
  • Assists in the development and integration of programs, plans, strategies and processes to meet business goals for authorization such as sourcing strategy for commitment of work, cost imperatives, deployment analysis and impact mitigation.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada
  • 5+ years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator supporting, developing and implementing backup and recovery processes for corporate databases
  • 5+ years’ experience in writing and evaluating SQL scripts including writing and tuning SQL and PL/SQL code in an Oracle database
  • 5+ years’ experience with Oracle / Redhat Linux
Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) designation
  • Oracle training for database administration/backup/recovery
  • Knowledge / Experience in HP-UX
  • Programming experience (VB.Net)
Typical Education and Experience:Technical bachelor’s degree and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or a Master’s degree with typically 3 or more years’ or a PhD degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four-year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.Relocation:Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.This requisition is for a locally hired position in Canada. The employer is Boeing Canada.
