If you have a passion for excellence, and would like to work for Corus Entertainment, we encourage you to apply.Division: Global News WinnipegWork Status: Full-TimeLocation: Winnipeg, MB (On-site)About the Role:Global News has an exciting opportunity for a Digital Broadcast Journalist (Weather Anchor) to join their team. Reporting to the News Director, this position is part of the Global News team which produces local newscasts 7-days a week and provides a continuous flow of content to Globalnews.ca. This is a Group 4 unionized position. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and presenting on our digital, radio, and television platforms. This position requires work on a variety of shifts including early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.You’ll be working on things like:

  • Present informative and viewer-friendly weathercasts with competence and clarity, using electronic weather graphics. Includes local and national weather information, as well as weather updates as required;
  • Strong on-air presentation, including live remotes and unscripted material;
  • Commitment to continually develop an accurate understanding of weather for our viewers;
  • Research and develop original story ideas dealing with human interest subjects, entertainment, and community events;
  • Write and produce content with multiple deadlines on a daily basis for on-line;
  • Represent Global Winnipeg in the community by attending and hosting a variety of events;
  • Assignments will include days, evenings and weekends as required;
  • Other duties as required.
If you have the following…we want to hear from you!
  • Diploma/degree in journalism or similar relevant education;
  • 1 year of on-air experience
  • Passion for weather or science
  • Proven ability to present information to viewers in a clear and concise manner;
  • Effective writing skills, proven ability to meet editing and on-air deadlines;
  • Ability to write web copy in a clear and concise manner
  • Able to work co-operatively in a large team environment;
  • Exemplary work ethic and punctuality;
  • Must demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude
  • History of being accountable and reliable
  • Computer savvy with the ability to learn electronic weather systems.
  • Experience with non-linear editing systems would be an asset.
