Role Description:Reporting to the AVP, PMO & Project Delivery, the Digital Product Owner will be accountable for overseeing the design and instantiation of digital products including the vision, roadmap, identification of value, and prioritization of the backlog. This includes acting strategically as well as tactically towards the coordination and completion of cross-functional initiatives including scope, timelines and quality targets that support the ongoing value of aligned assets.The Digital Product Owner is responsible for advancing Wellington Altus’ corporate strategic commitments and enterprise business applications aligned to their product, acting as the hub to coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the execution and delivery of value.Key responsibilities include:
  • Creating a digital vision and roadmap for assets aligned with this Digital Product and identifying the opportunities for maturing and differentiating digital capabilities and solutions.
  • Leading the development of the overall WA strategy and roadmap for the Digital Product and assets aligned
    • Ensuring its integration with the enterprise strategic planning process, and the resulting business strategy and plans working across organizational leaders to identify target outcomes (KPIs) and track progress.
  • Working with business and technology leaders to develop transformative strategies and reimagine the way we do business to support our accelerated growth.
  • Collaborating with prospective users and business stakeholders to understand and anticipate their needs and translate them into product requirements.
  • Defining and reporting on KPIs and metrics that represent progress against digital goals.
  • Defining, analyzing, and setting targets using data and analytics as a key vehicle to drive improvements and measure progress, ROI, and success criteria.
  • Creating alignment and momentum with the delivery teams to drive progress.
  • Maintaining broad transparency through strong communication, collaboration and partnering.
  • Determining, defining, and capturing scope and objectives including success criteria and value-delivery, involving all relevant internal stakeholders, and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Ensuring that projects and enhancements are delivered on-time, within scope, budget, and quality targets.
  • Predicting resources needed to reach objectives for change and supporting and managing in an effective and efficient manner
    • Ensuring resource availability and allocation.
  • Tracking and providing updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about Digital Product strategy, performance, adjustments, and progress.
  • Establishing, managing/coordinating, and maintaining relationships with the project team including both internal and third parties/vendors through the Digital Product lifecycle.
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive Digital Product documentation.
  • Delegating tasks based on team members individual strengths, skill sets, experience levels and decision authority.
  • Reviewing and providing input towards vendor contracts to ensure it is representing the needs and interests of the WA stakeholders and target outcomes.
  • Reviewing and accepting vendor invoices.
  • Leadership
    • Active engagement and thought leadership in digital product management and sharing within and across teams.
    • Driving innovation and continuous learning to proactively tackle disruptors.
    • Applying a digital and growth mindset; engaging in continuous learning to update digital skills, digital thinking, and analytical thinking capabilities.

    • Acting as a champion and change agent in leading the organizational through change to create and sustain enterprise digital and technology capabilities.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in business management, product management, computer science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on digital Product/Project Management experience.
  • Expertise in both agile and waterfall methodologies.
  • Product Management experience in FinTech or Financial Institutions.
  • Experience managing a team of directors and various levels of program and/or project managers.
  • Prior start-up experience would be considered an asset.
  • A Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), PMP, CSM or MBA would be considered asset.
