Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process.Visit St.Amant online at www.stamant.caPosition Summary: Treatment Workers are responsible for the delivery of services and supports to people with developmental disabilities and/or autism within a community setting. The Treatment Worker provides support services in accordance with St.Amant's Mission & Values, provincial legislation and regulations. Treatment Workers ensure that services are provided in a way that:

  • Incorporates high quality support and treatment as identified by a variety of professionals including psychiatrists, psychologists, medical professionals, and behaviour technicians.
  • Optimizes dignity, self-determination and attainment of personal outcomes.
  • Maximizes environmental and lifestyle choices desired by the individual.
  • Supports education, training and work opportunities.
Treatment Workers monitor and assess the health needs of individuals supported, assisting with daily living routines, and ensuring their safety & well-being. As a member of the interdisciplinary support team, the Treatment Worker is able to understand and consistently implement clinical plans, record and report data and communicate effectively with other team members.This position reports to the Team Leader.Qualifications: Educational:
  • Grade XII Diploma or GED. Completion of relevant post-secondary education is considered an asset (Disability studies, Psychology, etc.)
  • Current Certification in CPR and Emergency First Aid.
  • Current Certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention – Applied Physical Training.
  • Completion of Specialized Behaviour Management Training
  • Completion of other relevant workshops and on-the-job training would be an asset.
  • Possess a valid Manitoba class 5 (full) driver’s license and an acceptable Driver’s Abstract
Professional:
  • Minimum of 2-years’ experience providing direct support services to people with intellectual & developmental disabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to support people experiencing crisis using both verbal and physical interventions.
  • Experience collecting and recording clinical data is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of current trends in services for individuals with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of basic cooking and household management skills.
Personal:
  • Positive, energetic, self-directed and person focused.
  • Physical ability and emotional stability to support peoples’ physical needs and respond appropriately to challenging behavior.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member in collaboration with peers, clinicians, professional staff and families.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing (English proficiency required in all positions, French proficiency required in designated bilingual positions).
  • Possess basic computer skills, comfortable with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Acceptable Criminal Record, Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Prior Contact Check (CFS).
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
