Position: Accounting AssistantLocation: Division Office - WinnipegStart Date: As soon as possibleFTE: 7.25 hours/day, 5 days/week, 12 months/yearTerm of Employment: PermanentSalary: $62,040.40 to $74,344.08 per yearUnionized/Non-Unionized: Non-UnionizedApplication Deadline: Wednesday, March 23, 2022Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Assistant is responsible for ensuring allaccounts receivable functions are carried out in a timely manner, preparing account reconciliations,generating accounting reports and reconciling bank accounts. The Accounting Assistant also providessupport to Divisional programs, such as the credit card program and housing rental agreements.QUALIFICATIONS Diploma in Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting or an acceptable combinationof education and experience Three years of accounting experience with knowledge of fund accounting or payroll Proficient with MS Outlook, Excel spreadsheets and accounting software Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in determining work priorities and working with minimaldirect supervision Ability to work in a team environment and provide support and guidance within the FinanceDepartment Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with people of all levels both internal andexternal to the organization.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Distributes Accounts Receivable reports on outstanding accounts and follows up on accounts forcollection Oversees Schools of Choice and GST administration for the Division Provides oversight and guidance to schools with respect to school funds and budgets Maintains accounting for the Division’s charitable organization (NOFI) Assists with the preparation of invoices for tuition, transportation, adult education and miscellaneouscost recoveries Prepares and posts journal entries and budget transfers Prepares monthly and quarterly allocation entries Prepares and distributes month-end reports to Area Offices and Department Heads Participates in preparation of annual budget and assists with year-end. Reviews tax billings and ensures payments meet deadlines.
